Reese Hoffa
Reese Hoffa (born Maurice Antawn Chism on October 8, 1977 in Evans , Georgia ) is an American shot putter . He was world champion in 2007.
Hoffa was adopted shortly before his fifth birthday. He lived in Kentucky until the age of six and then moved to Augusta . After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Georgia , where he began with the shot put, graduating in 2001.
His first major international success was winning the silver medal at the 2004 World Indoor Championships in Budapest . At the Olympic Games in Athens , however, he was eliminated in qualifying.
Two years later he won the title at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow with a personal best indoor performance of 22.11 m . He also won the gold medal at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka with a width of 22.04 m. In the same year he achieved his best distance with 22.43 m.
In 2008 Hoffa won the silver medal at the World Indoor Championships . As the winner of the US eliminations, he was a big favorite for the Olympic Games in Beijing , where he was only seventh with 20.53 m. At the 2009 World Championships he was fourth and in 2011 fifth.
In 2012 Hoffa reached fourth place at the World Indoor Championships . In the open air he was a participant in the London Olympics , where he won the bronze medal.
Reese Hoffa is 1.82 m tall and weighs 133 kg. He is married and lives in Athens , Georgia. Hoffa pushes with the rotary joint technique.
