The Russian team was disqualified for breaking rule 170.8 when switching. The US relay crossed the finish line first with a time of 3: 04.09 min, but was disqualified in 2009 when Jerome Young admitted continuous doping for the period from 1999 to 2003 and his results at that time were therefore canceled.
