Janina Pravalinskaja-Karoltschyk

Janina Pravalinskaya-Karolchyk ( Belarusian Яніна Правалінская-Карольчык , English transcription Yanina Pravalinskaya-Karolchyk, nee Karoltschyk ; born December 26, 1976 ) is a former Belarusian shot putter and Olympic champion .

After winning the silver medal in 1995 at the European Junior Championships, the next important international step she won was the bronze medal at the 1998 European Championships in Budapest . She won the Belarusian championships in 1997 and 1998.

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney she won the gold medal with a width of 20.56 m ahead of Larissa Peleschenko (RUS) and Astrid Kumbernuss (GER), and she also won the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton with a width of 20.61 m ahead of Nadine Kleinert (GER) and Wita Pawlysch (UKR).

In 2003, she was positive for the agent clenbuterol tested . As a result, she was suspended for two years for doping .

At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka , she finished tenth.

Janina Prawalinskaja-Karoltschyk is 1.87 m tall and weighs 95 kg. She has been married to the singer Uladsimer Prawalinski since 2006, with whom she has a daughter born in 2005.
