Justin Anlezark

Justin Anlezark (born August 14, 1977 in Katherine , Australia ) is an Australian shot putter .

Career

From 1998 to 2009 he was a total of eight Australian champions. In 2000 he qualified for the Olympic Games in Sydney , but reached the final as well as at the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton.

He had his greatest international success the following year when he won gold at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester . In 2003 a fifth place at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham was followed by a fourth place at the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis. He finished seventh at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, but sustained an injury to one finger that forced him to take a break from competition the following year, and in 2006 had to undergo surgery.

In 2008 he broke the 20-meter mark for the first time in more than three years, but did not get beyond qualification at the Olympic Games in Beijing or at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin.

His best performance is 20.96 m, achieved on April 5, 2003 in Brisbane . He also operates the discus throw , in which he was Australian champion in 1996 and on February 16, 2007 in Brisbane he set his personal record with 59.10 m.

Nicknamed “Judo”, the athlete is 1.88 m tall, weighs 130 kg and competes for the Toowoomba Glennie club . He is married with two daughters and lives in Toowoomba .
