Tatiana Vladimirovna Kotova
Tatyana Vladimirovna Kotova ( Russian Татьяна Владимировна Котова , English transcription Tatyana Vladimirovna Kotova ; born December 11, 1976 in Kokand ) is a former Russian long jumper . She was European champion in 2002 and three times indoor world champion.
Career
In 1999 she won gold at the World Indoor Championships in Maebashi with 6.68 m, but was eliminated from the qualification at the World Championships in Seville .
At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , Kotowa finished fourth with 6.83 m. In October 2007, the third place winner, the American Marion Jones, returned her bronze medal to the IOC. The bronze medal was awarded to Tatiana Kotowa by the IOC in December 2009.
At the World Indoor Championships in 2001 in Lisbon , she won silver with 6.98 m. On June 23, 2002 she won the European Cup in Annecy with a personal best and she even came very close to the world record with 7.42 m. However, she never reached into similar performance areas. In the same year she won gold at the European Championships in Munich with 6.85 m.
She was also consistently on the podium at the next major international events: silver at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton , the 2003 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham (6.84 m), the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis (6.74 m) and the World Indoor Championships 2004 in Budapest (6.93 m), bronze at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens (7.05 m) and bronze at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka (6.90 m).
This means that Kotowa - interrupted by her two-year doping ban - stood on the podium at ten major international events from 2000 to 2007. At the Olympic Games in 2008 and the European Championships in 2010, however, she did not reach the final. After failing to qualify for the 2012 Olympics, she resigned.
Tatiana Kotowa is 1.78 m tall and weighed 57 kg at competition times.
doping
In 2013, she was suspended and legal proceedings initiated against her after a retrospective doping test on a sample of Kotova from the 2005 World Championships was positive. It was banned for two years and all results from August 10, 2005 to August 9, 2007 have been voided.
