Brittney Davon Reese (born September 9, 1986 in Inglewood ) is an American long jumper .

At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka , she finished eighth, at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, fifth.

With a new personal best of 7.10 m, she won the gold medal at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin . A short time later, she recorded another victory at the World Athletics Finals in Thessaloniki with a jump to 7.08 m.

In 2010 she had her title win in Berlin followed by another gold medal at the World Indoor Championships in Doha . With victories at the Athletissima , the Areva meeting and the Weltklasse Zürich , she won the overall ranking of the IAAF Diamond League . In 2011 she increased her best performance at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene to 7.19 m and successfully defended her title at the World Championships in Daegu .

She also managed to defend her title at the World Indoor Championships in 2012 in Istanbul . Reese achieved an outstanding winning distance with 7.23 m. Only two women, Heike Drechsler and Galina Tschistjakowa , had ever jumped further in the hall.

She celebrated the greatest success of her career so far at the 2012 Olympic Games in London . With 7.12 m she won the gold medal there.

At the 2013 World Championships in Moscow , she became world champion for the third time in a row.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she had to admit defeat to her US teammate Tianna Bartoletta (7.17 m) and won the silver medal with 7.15 m.

Brittney Reese is 1.73 m tall and has a competition weight of 63 kg.
