Ivić Pašalić

Ivić Pašalić (born November 3, 1960 in Šuica , Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian politician.

Life

After studying medicine at the University of Zagreb , Pašalić worked as a doctor in Ivanec and Zagreb . 1989/1990 he was one of the founders of the local organizations of the Hrvatska demokratska zajednica ("Croatian Democratic Union") in Varaždin and Ivanec. He quickly rose to become the party's general secretary. In addition, there was his role as domestic policy advisor to the Croatian President Franjo Tuđman . Thanks to his position of power, he was able to form state institutions under the influence of the HDZ. Pašalić did not hide this either and freely stated: “The judiciary has to support national affairs”.

After Tuđman's death and the defeat of the HDZ in the parliamentary elections in 2000, there was an open exchange of blows between the new HDZ chairman Ivo Sanader and Ivić Pašalić.
