Vilma Bardauskienė

Vilma Bardauskienė (birth name Vilhelmina Augustinavičiūtė ; born June 15, 1953 in Pakruojis ) is a former Lithuanian long jumper who competed for the Soviet Union.

Under her birth name, she finished fourth at the Soviet championships in 1970 with 6.13 meters. In 1972 she was sixth with 6.06 meters. In 1977 she appeared as Vilma Bardauskienė and took third place with 6.28 meters.

At the European Indoor Championships in Milan in 1978, she was ninth with 6.15 meters. In the summer of 1978 she won the Soviet championship with 6.82 meters. On August 18, 1978, she jumped in Chișinău with a new world record of 7.07 meters and improved the old world record of Sigrun Siegl from the GDR by eight centimeters. This made Bardauskienė the first woman to jump over seven meters.

With her world record she was of course the favorite at the 1978 European Championships in Prague . In the qualification on August 29, 1978, she improved her world record by two centimeters to 7.09 meters. In the final she jumped 6.88 meters and won the title ahead of Angela Voigt from the GDR with 6.79 meters.

At the Soviet championship in 1979 Bardauskienė was again fifth with 6.29 meters. Her world record lasted until 1982 when the Romanian Anişoara Cuşmir jumped 7.15 meters.

With a height of 1.72 m, her competition weight was 61 kg.
