Irmgard Praetz

Irmgard Praetz (born August 9, 1920 in Salzwedel ; † November 7, 2008 in Garching near Munich ) was a German athlete who won the gold medal in the long jump at the 1938 European Championships in Vienna (invalid - 5.72 - 5.73 - 5 , 76 - 5.88 m - 5.79).

At the German Championships in Breslau in 1938 she was first in the long jump with 5.68 m, and second in 1940 with 5.46 m.

1950 followed the GDR championship title in the pentathlon. Irmgard Römer, b. Praetz, started for the sports club TV Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Salzwedel . In her active time she was 1.76 m tall and 67 kg.

She carried the name of her hometown Salzwedel out to Europe. The sportswoman was a keen athlete and kept this enthusiasm for the sport into old age.
