1825: Jereboam O. Beauchamp murders Solomon P. Sharp
  • 1825 : The young lawyer Jereboam O. Beauchamp assassinated the politician Solomon P. Sharp , according to his own statements, in order to defend the honor of his wife Anne Cooke-Beauchamp. The so-called Beauchamp-Sharp tragedy is picked up by the press and in numerous literary adaptations.
  • 1921 : The trial of the murderer Henri Désiré Landru begins in Versailles .
  • 1938 : After the murder of a taxi driver, the first public manhunt takes place in Berlin with the help of television. It is organized by the legendary detective Ernst Gennat together with Theo Saevecke . The numerous clues actually lead to the perpetrator being caught.
