Tinie Tempah (* 7. November 1988 in London ; real name Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu ) is a British Grime - Rapper and MC from South East London. His parents are of Nigerian descent and he has a brother and two sisters. He is particularly successful in Great Britain, where he celebrated the top position with his debut album Disc-Overy and the three singles Pass Out , Written in the Stars and Not Letting Go .

Career

Tinie Tempah's first song, Wifey, from 2006, became an underground hit in the UK and topped the UK urban charts.

He founded the Disturbing London label with his manager and cousin Dumi Oburota , which was intended for his own music as well as for other young musicians.

When the scout Jade Richardson saw him at the Wireless Festival , she called the Parlophone boss Miles Leonard, who visited Tempah and his manager in the studio a few weeks later with A&R Nathan Thompson. In October 2009, Tempah announced that he had signed with Parlophone.

2010–2011: Debut album Disc-Overy

In February 2010 he released his first official single Pass Out and immediately reached number 1 in the UK charts with 92,000 copies. In June he played the song live with Snoop Dogg at Glastonbury Festival . At the BRIT Awards 2011 Tinie Tempah won two awards: as a British breakthrough act and a British single for the title Pass Out . On June 6th, his second release, Frisky , was released, which landed at number 2 in Great Britain and number 3 in Ireland. The first two singles sold together over 750,000 times. With his third single, Written in the Stars , he finally made his breakthrough in the USA in 2011. The song also became the theme song for Wrestlemania 27. The fourth single was Miami 2 Ibiza in October with the Swedish House Mafia . The title also made it into the top 10 in some other European countries such as Sweden, the Netherlands and Belgium. Only then did his long-awaited debut album Disc-Overy appear .

In the UK, he also published Wonderman with Ellie Goulding .

He started his first own tour with performances by Chiddy Bang in October 2010 after touring with stars like Jay-Z , Rihanna , Chipmunk and Mr Hudson . In January 2011 he was also a guest on Usher's OMG Tour .

In 2011 he also contributed a feature to the album No More Idols by Chase & Status at: the song Hitz .

On November 24, 2011 he released the song Like It or Love It together with Wretch 32 and J. Cole from his mixtape Happy Birthday , which was released on December 16 with eight other new songs. Guest musicians on the mixtape include Pusha T , Chipmunk , Tinchy Stryder and Soulja Boy .

In January 2012, he was also voted Best Dressed Man in Great Britain by the British men's magazine GQ . The song RIP by Rita Ora , on which Tempah has a guest appearance, shot to the top of the download charts in Great Britain and a little later also to position 1 in the official British charts. Taio Cruz and Jessie J sang the Bee Gees song You Should Be Dancing with Tinie Tempah at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . In June 2011, he said in an interview that he was working on a new album that was scheduled for December. For the song he was able to win over the Swedish singer John Martin , whom he had met through the Swedish House Mafia producer team . Other guest musicians on the album include Big Sean , Emeli Sandé , Dizzee Rascal and Paloma Faith .
