biography
Dylan Mills grew up in the East End of London as the child of an immigrant from Ghana . Little is known about his father; he probably died when Dylan Mills was two years old. Mills flew from three different schools until he finally found a teacher who recognized his musical talent and let him use computers in the classroom to make music. Early on he discovered his love for the local music scene, which is heavily influenced by 2 Step / UK Garage and the resulting genre Grime . Soon he teamed up with like-minded people and founded the combo " Roll Deep Crew " together with Wiley and other "Grime" enthusiasts . After a number of local raves and white label releases, he drew attention to himself and his crew and quickly became known in London. At the time he was writing I Luv U , a song about teenage pregnancy that quickly made him famous across the UK. Some time later he released his first album, Boy in da Corner , whose song Hold Ya Mouf contains his most famous line of text: "I'm a problem for Anthony Blair ". There was also a problem with Crazy Titch, with whom an argument developed during a battle, whereupon Crazy Titch covered Dizzee Rascal's song Jus 'a Rascal and called his version Jus' an Arsehole . After the commercial success of his debut, he left the Roll Deep Crew and continued to focus on his solo career.
In the same year, he was the first rapper to receive the Mercury Music Prize for the album Boy in da Corner . At the age of 19, he is also the youngest winner to date. In 2004 he received the NME Award for Innovation. His second album, Showtime , was released at the end of the same year .
Dizzee Rascal also worked with Basement Jaxx on the song Lucky Star on their album Kish Kash and with the Arctic Monkeys on the song Temptation Greets You Like Your Naughty Friend on his third album Maths & English . He performed live in the support act of Justin Timberlake on his UK tour, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their 2006 tour and at the Glastonbury Festival with the Arctic Monkeys.
With the title Fix Up, Look Sharp he contributed a song to the soundtrack of the film Rize . His third album entitled Maths & English was released on June 8, 2007. The single Sirens reached number 20 on the UK Singles Charts. The following year, Dizzee Rascal released the single Dance wiv Me with Calvin Harris and Chrome . It rose to number 1 in the UK charts in early July 2008 . With Bonkers and Holiday , two more number one hits followed in the British charts. In 2010 Dizzee Rascal was named Best Male Solo Artist at the BRIT Awards . He also appeared for the first time in his career in 2010 at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park . At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, he presented his song Bonkers at the opening ceremony .
Dizzee Rascal's song Sirens inspired Casper for his song Sirens on the album Long Live Death (2017).

- ↑ On the Internet there are various different information about the exact birthday and year (instead of September 18, October 1 and November 1, 1985 instead of 1984). Various tweets from Dizzee Rascal over several years make September 18, 1984 the most plausible. The tweet from October 1, 2014 is particularly relevant: Thanks for all the birthday shouts. My birthday was sept 18th I turned 30 but I'm happy to except any money u wanna send! Serious lol ;-)
