Peter Wilhelm Brand (* 3. August 1900 in Remscheid , † 1. August 1978 ) was a German politician of the CDU .

Life and work

Brand, who was of Protestant faith, completed a commercial apprenticeship after attending secondary school . From 1921 to 1930 he worked as an industrial clerk in Remscheid and Berlin , then until 1952 as an authorized signatory and managing director of a machine factory in Remscheid. In 1952 he became a member of the executive board of an employers' association.

Political party

Brand was a member of the CDU and was a member of the district executive committee in Remscheid.

MP

Since 1945 Brand was a city councilor in Remscheid and chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there.

Brand was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1969. From 1960 to December 15, 1964, he was chairman of the working group on economic and agricultural issues in his parliamentary group and then deputy chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group until he left parliament . From 1961 to 1969 he was deputy chairman of the Bundestag committee for economic and medium-sized issues. Brand initially represented the constituency of Rhein-Wupper-Kreis - Leverkusen and from 1965 the constituency of Remscheid in parliament.
