Pusha T (born May 14, 1977 in Bronx , New York ; civil Terrence Thornton ) is an American rapper .

Career

Thornton first appeared with his brother Gene as the hip-hop group Clipse . With the help of Pharrell Williams they got a contract with the Elektra Records label, where they released their first album Exclusive Audio Footage in 1997. Thornton also drew attention to himself through guest posts on singles by Kelis and Nivea . In 2004 Thornton and his brother founded the Re-Up Records label , which they also signed with rappers Ab-Liva and Sandman. Then they released as a group Re-Up Gang 2008 album Clipse Presents: Re-Up Gang . In 2009 Pusha T announced that he wanted to start his solo career.

In September 2010 it was announced that Thornton had signed with Kanye West's label GOOD Music . On March 21, 2011, his first release on the label, the mixtape Fear of God, appeared . In 2012, GOOD Music released an album entitled Cruel Summer , on which Thornton was represented. He is also touring Kanye West as the back-up rapper. His first studio album, My Name Is My Name , was released in October 2013.
