Victoria "Pixie" Louise Lott (born January 12, 1991 in Bromley , London , England ) is a British pop / soul singer , songwriter and actress .

childhood

Pixie Lott was born in Bromley, a borough in south east London. Her mother nicknamed her Pixie because she was "such a cute little baby who looked like a fairy". She started singing in her church school. At the age of five she attended the Italia Conti Associates Saturday School in Chislehurst. She later received a scholarship to the Italia Conti Academy of Theater Arts . During her acting training in London she appeared in the musical production Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the BBC television production A Celebration to the Sound of Music , in which she played Louisa von Trapp. When she was 13, she moved to Brentwood with her family. Although she missed some class because of the recordings for her album, she achieved top marks in her GCSE .

Music career

2009-2010: Turn It Up

When Pixie Lott was 15 years old, LA Reid signed her to record label Island Def Jam Music Group . Their subsidiary Mercury Records released their debut single Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh) on June 8, 2009 , which immediately landed at number one in the British charts. The single was awarded silver by the British Phonographic Industry after selling over 200,000 copies. The single also had success outside of the UK . She reached the top 40 in eleven countries, and even the top 10 in France and Denmark. In mid-September her second single Boys and Girls also reached the top position, after it had also sold over 50,000 copies. In addition, Boys and Girls was released as their debut single on August 24, 2010 in the US .

On September 14, 2009, their debut album Turn It Up was released. The album debuted at number 6 in the UK album charts and went double-platinum with over 600,000 units sold. The third single was Cry Me Out , which was released on November 23, 2009 and landed at number 12 in the UK. The song Gravity , the fourth single, was released in England on March 8, 2010 and reached number 20. On July 7, 2010 she released the fifth single Turn It Up , which reached number 11 in the UK.

On October 18, 2010, the album was re-released with new tracks under the name Turn It Up Louder . From this album another single was released called Broken Arrows , which reached number 12. In addition, a release of their debut album with a modified song list is planned in the USA. In addition to the single Broken Arrow , the album will also feature duets with Jason Derulo and Joe Jonas as well as three songs in collaboration with the British songwriters Chris Braide and Cathy Dennis .

On September 19, 2009, the charitable band Young Soul Rebels , of which Pixie Lott was a part, released the song I Got Soul . This reached number 10 in the UK. Pixie Lott wrote the song You Broke My Heart for Alexandra Burke's debut album Overcome and the song Happy Alone for Girls Can't Catch . The song The Way the World Works was featured on the Private Practice series . Pixie Lott received two awards at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards . In addition, she was nominated three times at the BRIT Awards in 2010 . She supported Rihanna's Last Girl on Earth Tour in Great Britain. She got the role of Judy in Fred: The Movie , which was released in America on Nickelodeon. She also contributed the song Live For The Moment to the soundtrack of the 2010 film StreetDance 3D .

Since 2011: Young Foolish Happy

In April 2011, Pixie Lott revealed in an interview with Digitalspy that she was working on a new album. She announced a variety of collaborations with well-known artists as well as music that is "still pop music, but a little more soulful". Her second studio album called Young Foolish Happy was released in Great Britain on November 14, 2011. It includes duets with Stevie Wonder and John Legend . The first single, All About Tonight , was released on September 4, 2011 and immediately hit number one on the UK charts. It is Pixie Lott's third number 1 single. The second single was the song What Do You Take Me For? , A collaboration with US rapper Pusha T . The song was released digitally on November 4, 2011 and peaked at number 10 in the UK. The third single was the song Kiss the Stars , also only digitally, released. On February 27, 2012, the song Bright Lights was released , a collaboration with rapper Tinchy Stryder . On their album is another version of this song called Bright Lights (Good Life) Part II .
