occupation

StreetDance 3D is a British 3D - dance film from the year 2010, the directors Max Giwa and Dania Pasquini with Nichola Burley and Richard Winsor in the lead roles.

action

The passionate young dancer and choreographer Carly has qualified for the British Street Dance Championships together with her London- based street dance crew Jay 20 . When her friend Jay, the leader and one of the best dancers in the group, leaves the crew, she has to take over their leadership and convince the dancers that she is capable of leading the group to the finals.

But first they have to find a suitable place to train. Helena, a dance teacher at London's National Ballet School , gives them a room in the dance academy. In return, the street dancers are supposed to include ballet students whom they hold in low esteem in their dance training and who are training for admission to the prestigious Royal Ballet . Despite different opinions and life situations, everyone finds mutual respect through dance. Carly and Tomas, one of the ballet dancers, get closer personally. When Carly finds out that Jay has defected to her strongest competitor, the group The Surge , she initially sees no chance of winning the championships. Jay also gives her to understand that he thinks her crew has no chance. But Carly succeeds in creating a choreography that combines the different dance styles of ballet and street dance. With this new type of dance performance, the crew, now renamed Breaking Point , wins the championship in the end.

background

  • The film, released in Germany by Universum Film GmbH and SquareOne Entertainment , was the first dance film to be produced in 3D.

Reviews

"In terms of content flat, the film at least entertains its target group through the dynamic dance sequences that capture the movement in the room."

"As sympathetic as the two main characters and their actors, the British newcomer Nichola Burley and ballet professional Richard Winsor, is the entire film, which never exaggerates its story melodramatically and tries to achieve originality, especially in the dance sequences that use the depth of the space."

“Fine dance opera from Great Britain with great acrobatics and a furious finale. In 3D, which is fun, but hardly brings new perspectives. "
