Tameka Lydia Empson (born April 15, 1977 in the Hackney district , London ) is a British actress .

life and career

At the age of seven, Tameka Empson became a member of Anna Scher's theater school, where she was trained over the next ten years. She became known in 1996 for the role of a stoned school dropout who loves Cass Elliot's music in the British film Beautiful Thing . This was followed by other supporting roles, including in the literary film Diary of a Scandal (2006) on the side of Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett . Since 2009 she has appeared regularly in the British soap opera EastEnders in the comedic role of Kim Fox . So far she has played this role in over 600 episodes and has received several soap opera awards for her performance.

In addition to her film and television work, she has so far played numerous roles on London stages, for example in the musical Our House with songs by the band Madness . From 2004 to 2009 and again in 2018 she performed as a pantomime at the Hackney Empire in London. Her appearance in the musical The Big Life earned her a 2006 Laurence Olivier Award nomination .

Tameka Empson, whose parents immigrated to England from Ivory Coast before she was born , is married and has a daughter born in 2014. In the fall of 2016, she took part in the 14th season of the British dance show Strictly Come Dancing , where she finished second to last.
