action

prehistory

Gynecologist and specialist in neonatal surgery at Seattle Grace Hospital , Dr. Because of private problems, Addison Forbes Montgomery makes the decision to leave Seattle and, after a few setbacks in his career and personal life, to make a fresh start. For this reason, she makes her way to LA to meet her old college friends, fertility specialist Dr. Naomi Bennett and her ex-husband, general practitioner / heart surgeon Dr. Sam Bennett, to visit. There she learns from Naomi that she is sterile. Shortly thereafter, she accepted the offer to work in their group practice, Oceanside Wellness Group .

season 1

After Addison gave up her position as senior physician and head of gynecology at Seattle Grace Hospital , she moved to Los Angeles to work with her old friends Sam and Naomi and their friends, alternative medicine specialist Dr. Pete Wilder, psychiatrist Dr. Violet Turner, the pediatrician Dr. Cooper Freedman and the trainee Dell to work in a small, private practice. After initial difficulties getting used to it, Addison quickly befriends the other doctors in the practice, especially Pete. The two indulge in their passion for each other, but the relationship has no real chance. Addison meets the police officer and later SWAT officer Kevin Nelson and begins a relationship with him. Cooper begins with the director of St. Ambrose Hospital , Dr. Charlotte King, having an affair. Naomi and Sam obviously still have feelings for each other after their divorce. Sam is not the only one who has feelings for Naomi, however, because Dell is in love with her too. Finally there is a kiss between Naomi and Dell and between Naomi and Sam.

season 2

Addison's relationship with Kevin is initially shaken by Addison's distrust and, after Kevin's wounded during a police operation, by her overprotection. Shortly afterwards she meets Dr. Wyatt Lockhart and kisses him. Addison then ended the relationship by confessing to Kevin that she was flinging. The attempt with Wyatt also fails because he changes practice. From then on, Dr. Archer Montgomery, Addison's brother. He starts an affair with Naomi, who meanwhile has to give up her position as head of the Oceanside Wellness Group to Addison because she can no longer control the finances. Meanwhile Sam also finds a new girlfriend, which worsens the relationship with Naomi.

Meanwhile, Cooper's relationship with Charlotte becomes more serious and after a failed marriage proposal on her part, the two finally get back together. Charlotte opens another practice in the same building called Pacific Wellcare .

Addison falls in love with Dr. Noah Barnes, who turns out to be the husband of one of her patients. After Pete ended his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Dr. Megan Porter ended again, he got into an affair with Violet, which ended with the two developing feelings for each other. At the same time, Violet also has sex with Dr. Sheldon Wallace, the competitive psychiatrist. Shortly afterwards, Violet finds out that she is pregnant, but she doesn't know who the father is. She ultimately decides to have a relationship with Pete, regardless of who the father of her child is. Shortly thereafter, Violet is visited by one of her patients, Katie Kent. She had recently lost her child and decides to take Violet's unborn baby after giving it to the world by caesarean section against Violet's will. Violet is left with profuse bleeding.

season 3

At first it is not clear whether Violet will survive. Naomi and Addison save her and the baby in lengthy operations, but have to remove her uterus. Violet is so traumatized by the previous events that she hands her child over to Pete's care, although the question of the fatherhood of the baby Lucas has not yet been definitely clarified. After the attack and the violent caesarean section, Violet suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder , as a result of which she does not dare to leave the house. At Sheldon's insistence, a paternity test finally brings certainty: Pete is the baby's father. To avoid Violet, Pete leaves the practice and, like Naomi, starts working at Pacific Wellcare . After a while, Violet feels ready to adopt Lucas as a son. She demands joint custody in court. Cooper states that Violet is not ready yet, which she really resents to him. Ultimately, the judge decides that Pete retains sole custody for the time being and that Violet can only visit her son under supervision. However, she can overcome the traumatic events after spending a night with Addison's father.

Now that two offices have become vacant in the practice and she has been quit by William White, the owner of the Pacific Wellcare practice, Charlotte joins Oceanside Wellness and works from then on as a sexologist. Violet learns that Charlotte has already been married once. When Charlotte confesses it to Cooper, he separates from her. She starts an affair with Sheldon, but it doesn't last long as she reconciles with Cooper after he proposed to her, which she accepts. In addition, Dr. Amelia Shepherd, sister of Addison's ex-husband Derek, moves to Los Angeles and starts working as a neurosurgeon at St. Ambrose Hospital .

When Mark Sloan travels to LA with his daughter Sloan so that Addison can operate on Sloan's unborn child, Addison and Mark sleep together. Meanwhile, Sam and Naomi have big problems with their daughter Maya, as she secretly meets with boys, goes to parties, lies to her parents and becomes pregnant. This hits Naomi very hard, she even demands that her daughter terminate the pregnancy, but Maya decides to have the child. After the father of Maya's baby, her friend Dink, holds out for her hand, Sam organizes the wedding of the two, but without Naomi, who still refuses to talk to her daughter or support her. Ultimately, however, mother and daughter can reconcile on the wedding day.

Naomi starts a relationship with her boss William, but falls in love with her colleague Dr. Gabriel Fife.

Meanwhile, to everyone's amazement, Dell marries his ex-girlfriend Heather, the mother of his daughter Betsey. However, Heather deceives him by starting drugs again and even causing a meth lab to explode in the house, dying from her serious injuries. Dell refuses to visit Heather or let Betsey near her dying mother, which makes him resentful of his daughter.

Addison and Sam discover their feelings for each other, but Addison does not want to enter into this relationship out of respect to her best friend Naomi and it offends Sam very much. Instead, she begins a relationship with Pete, but the two split because Pete still loves Violet and Addison has feelings for Sam. Finally, Addison and Sam sleep together.

As Maya's baby is about to be born, Maya and Dell get into a traffic accident on their way to the hospital. Maya is seriously injured in the accident and the child has to be delivered by caesarean section. After much deliberation, Amelia and Addison decide to operate on Maya and save Maya and her daughter Olivia. It takes a while to find out that Dell has bleeding from the brain. Dell says goodbye to his daughter Betsey and apologizes to her for not allowing her to see her mother again before she dies. Dell dies on Amelia's operating table.

Season 4

Pete and Violet get married. After much deliberation, Betsey is given up for adoption because her aunt no longer wants to take care of her. Violet in particular struggles with this decision, as she feels obliged to Dell to take in his daughter. After William's death, Naomi inherited a considerable amount of money, so she decides to merge the two practices Pacific Wellcare and Oceanside Wellness , which is supported by all sides. Amelia gets a permanent position in the practice.

Sam and Addison finally become a couple, which Addison, after a brief hesitation, also tells Naomi, which she does not take very well at first. However, the two can reconcile. Because of Addison's desire to have children, which Sam does not share, there are always arguments, which ultimately leads to the separation. However, the two reconcile and become a couple again.

Ultimately, Naomi finds happiness with Gabriel and moves with him to New York. In addition, Naomi takes Betsey into her home, as she cannot stay with her foster family because the birth child of the family suffers from a personality disorder and Betsey is so badly mistreated that she even has to be hospitalized.

A little later, Charlotte is the victim of a rape. At first she refuses to tell the others, especially Cooper, but everything gradually comes to light. After that, Charlotte struggled with the consequences of the rape for a long time, but with the help of her friends she managed to overcome her trauma. Since she is too late to bring herself to report the rape, her report is no longer accepted and her tormentor gets away with initially unpunished. Some time after, her tormentor comes to the hospital because he attacked his girlfriend and she injured him with a knife. While his girlfriend initially still stands by him, she later reveals to Charlotte that her boyfriend had told her about the rape. Charlotte is able to convince the friend to admit to the police that the rape took place and so her tormentor still receives his sentence.

Eventually, Cooper and Charlotte wed in a private ceremony in Las Vegas .

Addison gets a visit from her mother. Because her lesbian partner Susan has cancer, she hopes that Addison can help her. After initial success, however, Susan collapses during their wedding reception and dies shortly afterwards. Addison then reconciles with her mother, but she commits suicide with sleeping pills because she cannot live without Susan.

Amelia has a very turbulent alcohol and drug history. At Cooper and Charlotte's wedding party, she accidentally drinks a glass of champagne and relapses into alcohol addiction.

Pete is persuaded by his brother to visit his seriously ill mother in prison. At first he refuses any further contact with her. Nor does he help her with the plan to release her from prison because of her serious illness, since he refuses to fill out the necessary forms. When his brother later knowingly poisoned his mother so that she could be released, he lets Violet persuade him to reconcile with his mother. However, she dies shortly afterwards in the hospital.

Meanwhile, Violet publishes a book in which she tells her whole story of suffering, with a focus on the kidnapping by Katie Kent. Katie first complains against the book, as she sees her healing at risk because, despite the changed name, anyone can associate her with the character in the book. Ultimately, she drops the lawsuit, but this lawsuit calls the medical association on the scene, which leads to Violet losing her license. In addition, the entire practice falls into disrepute, because during the investigations by the Medical Association it emerges that all members of the practice are disregarding medical confidentiality among each other and also discussing their cases with colleagues who have nothing to do with it. Addison brings in the idea that the practice should be closed and re-established, which is received positively.

Since Violet can no longer work as a doctor for the time being, she accepts her publisher's offer and goes on a reading tour. For this reason, there is a violent argument with Pete, which can not dissuade her from her plan. While on the road, Pete has a heart attack. Since no one is in the house except Lucas and Pete also can't get the phone, it is unclear whether he will survive.

Season 5

Pete is found by Cooper who takes him to the hospital. Since Violet's flight is massively delayed, Cooper can reach her in time and Violet cancels her reading trip. Pete is operated on successfully and survived. However, Violet and Pete's relationship has grown deeply so that they split up a little later. Violet gets her license back after medical supervision realizes her patients need her. Violet embarks on a brief affair with a much younger man, but quickly realizes that she still has feelings for Pete. Since these are mutual, the two decide to try again. Because Pete turns off a patient's life support machines at the request of his partner, he is sued for murder by the patient's father. He is initially released on bail, but the charges are not dropped.

Amelia continues to have problems with alcohol. She is called when Pete is brought in and found out that he needs a neurosurgeon. However, she is drunk at the time. The operation is successful, but Charlotte temporarily suspends it. A little later, however, Sheldon can convince Charlotte to give her a second chance. She is also attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings again. She does start drinking again after her friend, who was diagnosed with Huntington's disease six months earlier , committed suicide using sleeping pills. She also starts taking prescription drugs like oxycodone . She neglects her patients, isolates herself from the outside world and writes herself prescriptions for her drug abuse. Charlotte wants to help her friend because, it turns out, she used to be addicted to pain medication herself and thereby caused a car accident in which one person died. A little later, Amelia meets Ryan. They fall in love and ultimately become engaged, but he is the reason that Amelia keeps falling, as the two trick each other into drug use. After an intervention by the doctors in the practice, all of whom are concerned about Amelia, since she was gone for twelve days, Amelia begins to show insight. However, she and Ryan take drugs again, causing Ryan to die from choking on his vomit. As a result of this event, Amelia is completely ready for withdrawal. Amelia also apologizes to her colleagues in the practice for their behavior, especially during the intervention. She later finds out that she is pregnant by Ryan and wants to keep the baby. During the check-ups, however, it turns out that your baby suffers from anencephaly . After the baby is born, its organs are donated at Amelia's request.

Addison starts seeing a psychologist. She and Sam are a couple again, but Addison still wants to have a child, which leads to great friction between the two. Therefore, she starts with fertility treatments, which ultimately fail. Your attending physician, Dr. Jake Reilly, is also the man she almost ran off to Fiji with a few weeks earlier when she and Sam were separated. A little later, Jake is hired in the practice, which is renamed Seaside Health Wellness . It also turns out that Jake has a grown daughter who is studying medicine, and his wife died of a drug overdose. In the end, Sam and Addison split up again, as Sam doesn't want any more children as usual. Addison continues to try to have a baby, now supported by Jake. However, your efforts are initially unsuccessful. A little later she is given the opportunity to adopt a baby and can finally fulfill her dream of motherhood. The baby, a boy, is named Henry by her. She starts a relationship with Jake, but a little later she confesses to Sam that he wants her back and proposes to her.

In the meantime, Sam's sister Corinne comes back into his life after the two had no contact for 20 years. Corinne suffers from bipolar disorder , but it has not been properly diagnosed for a long time, resulting in years of wrong medication being prescribed for her. Since Sam and Corinne have not had any contact for a long time, which is why Sam reproaches her, the siblings always have friction. Addison assists Sam with this, which leads to a one-night stand between the two. After an accident in Sam's house, Sam put his sister in a closed institution with a heavy heart because he was unable to treat her illness on his own.

Cooper is visited by a woman named Erika who claims he is the father of her eight-year-old son Mason. After a paternity test it turns out that Mason is really Cooper's son, which Charlotte initially has big problems with. Over time, however, Charlotte develops maternal feelings towards Mason. Erika is later diagnosed with a brain tumor that is difficult to treat and that reduces her life expectancy to just a few months, but she refuses any help at first. But she can be persuaded to have an operation, which Amelia and her brother Derek successfully carry out in Seattle. It is found, however, that metastases have already formed in your body. Ultimately, she loses the battle with cancer and dies.

Season 6

Addison decides to have a relationship with Jake, which tests her friendship with Sam. The two make up very quickly after the news of the death of their college friend Mark Sloan. Addison later proposes marriage to Jake, which Jake accepts. Shortly afterwards, the two married. Furthermore, the two reconciled with Henry's biological mother and encourage her to visit Henry regularly.

Pete's trial on his murder charge is coming up. When he does not show up, Violet first believes that he went into hiding to avoid conviction. A little later she gets the news that Pete had a heart attack while jogging and died of it. Over time, Violet decides to write another book called Private Practice .

Amelia and Pete's new ER doctor, Dr. James Peterson, after some trouble, become a couple.

Naomi makes a brief return to Los Angeles for Addison and Jake's wedding, where she and Sam have a one night stand. After Addison later finds out that Naomi is pregnant, she admits that Dr. Fife and she never married and have long been separated. Eventually Sam realizes that he still loves Naomi, so he travels to New York and confesses his love to her. The two marry again and Naomi starts working in the practice again.

Meanwhile, Charlotte discovers that she is pregnant. Much to her displeasure, she expects triplets, which she has big problems with at the beginning, but she accepts it. Cooper and Charlotte also agree to take in Lucas should something happen to Violet. Complications arise during pregnancy, as a result of which Addison has to give birth to one of the girls and Charlotte has to spend the rest of the pregnancy in bed. Eventually, however, Charlotte gives birth to the other two girls healthy.

Sheldon finds himself having health problems and is examined because of it, and it turns out that he has prostate cancer. During his daily radiation treatment, he met Miranda, who also had cancer. Although Miranda turns out to be about to die, the two become a couple. Sheldon quits his job so he can take care of Miranda during her final months.
