Taye Diggs
Taye Diggs (* 2. January 1971 in Rochester , New York , United States as Scott Leo Berry ) is an American musical performer and film actor .
biography
Diggs, the oldest of five siblings, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Syracuse University after attending the School of The Arts in Rochester. He made his musical debut in Carousel . In 1996, Diggs made his breakthrough on Broadway in Jonathan Larson's musical Rent . This was followed by roles in Chicago as Billy and in Wicked - The Witches of Oz , where he was temporarily on stage as Fiyero .
In addition to his work on Broadway, Diggs is also active as a film and television actor. He first appeared in front of the camera in 1998 in How Stella Got Her Groove Back .
From 2007 to 2013 he was in the role of Dr. Sam Bennett seen on Private Practice .
In 2018 he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
From January 11, 2003 to 2013 he was married to the musical actress Idina Menzel , whom he met during the workshop production of Rent. The couple's child was born on September 2, 2009.
