Malibu's Most Wanted is an American comedy film that premiered in US cinemas on April 14, 2003.
action
Bill Gluckman, Jewish Senator and California governorate contender , is in the middle of his election campaign . His son Bradley, called B-Rad, speaks and acts like a downtown gangster, although he has never suffered from poverty or crime. His father's campaign staff are concerned that Brad's idiotic, outlandish behavior is ruining Gluckman's chances of being elected.
The election campaign staff then hired two black actors who, for their part, had just as little knowledge of ghetto life as B-Rad. Disguised as gang members, they kidnap him and take him to South Central Los Angeles , where they hope to scare B-Rad so that he will "white" again. The shot backfires, however, as B-Rad obviously doesn't play a role, but sees himself as a real gangster and rapper . He also learns about the farce and, believing in a "game", connects with real gang members. His father learns about a shootout in which B-Rad drove a gang on television. Bill realizes that his game was going too far, he dismisses his campaign manager and drives to the ghetto to rescue his son.
At the end you see Bill Gluckman as the new governor and his son standing on stage in front of a cheering audience.
Awards
Malibu's Most Wanted was awarded for the BET Comedy Award 2004 in the category "Outstanding Writing for a Box Office Movie" and twice for the Teen Choice Award 2003 in the categories "Choice Movie - Comedy" and "Choice Movie Actor - Comedy" (Jamie Kennedy ) nominated. But there were no more than these nominations.
Feedback and reviews
Malibu's Most Wanted ultimately only found a larger audience in the USA . At $ 34,432,201, the box office results were well above those of the rest of the international market ($ 190,303).
In German reviews, the lack of novelty value of the film is particularly emphasized, as Ali G in da House (2002) or Erkan and Stefan (2000) , among others, have already taken up the subject of “whites behave like rappers and gangsters”.
Some scenes are positively highlighted, such as the design of the rap battle based on the comparable sequences in 8 Mile .
