Wedding Bells (Original Title: Cake ) is an American-Canadian comedy film from 2005. Directed by Nisha Ganatra , the screenplay was written by Tassie Cameron .

action

29-year-old Philippa "Pippa" McGee attends a friend's wedding. Upon return, she learns that her father, Malcolm, the widowed publisher of Wedding Bells magazine , has had a heart attack . Pippa then temporarily heads the magazine that a media group wants to take over.

McGee falls in love with managing editor Ian and photographer Hemingway Jones at the same time. She talks about her problems with her friends Lulu, Jane and Rachel. At first she only fulfills her duties as a publisher half-heartedly, but becomes more motivated as the work progresses. She is also changing her previously negative attitude towards marriage. The magazine received an award that Ian accepted on behalf of Malcolm McGees, which offended Pippa, who was also present at the ceremony.

Pippa McGee notices that Ian is on the phone with the head of the media company who wants to take over her father's publishing house. She accuses Ian, who is considered to be a friend of Malcolm McGee, of betraying her father. Ian quits and leaves the editorial office. Only later does Pippa's father explain that he himself commissioned Ian to find a buyer for the company.

Malcolm McGee sells his publisher, but Pippa persuades the new owner to continue publishing the magazine. In the end, she gets together with Ian.
