Musical performer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The actors in a musical stage performance or in a film musical are referred to as musical actors or musical actors . Musical performers combine the three classic branches of theater - spoken theater , dance theater / ballet and music theater - in one person with their skills in acting , dance and singing .

Positions within a production

A distinction is made between actors according to main and supporting roles and the ensemble .

Jumpers can either be classical second casts for a role ("stand-by" or "cover") or take part in the performances as part of the ensemble ("swing").

Dance Captain

A dance captain is responsible for rehearsing the dance movements in musicals. The dance captain supports the choreographer and works for the artistic director. After the premiere, the choreographer is usually no longer present at the production. The dance captain then takes over his duties, supervises rehearsals and instructs new ensemble members.
