Sven Niemeyer (born February 16, 1981 in Delmenhorst ) is a German actor , musical performer , dancer , choreographer , director , filmmaker and lecturer .

Life

At the age of 17, Niemeyer began training as a stage actor at the Stage School of Music, Dance and Drama in Hamburg , which he successfully completed in 2002. After two years with various engagements, he attended the Iwanson School for Contemporary Dance , under the artistic direction of Jessica Iwanson in Munich , from which he graduated in 2005 with a diploma as a stage dancer and dance teacher. Even during his training, Niemeyer worked as a lecturer for the dance studio "On Stage" and for the Stage School itself. Furthermore, he took over the choreographic management of various youth and addiction prevention programs in socially disadvantaged areas. In 2008 he trained for several months with the Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle and at EDGE-PAC in Los Angeles .

Sven Niemeyer is invited to international dance and musical competitions as a juror, such as B. to the ESDU World Dance Masters in Croatia , the Dance Fest Novi Sad in Serbia , the European Youth Musical Festival, or the Prague Dance Open in Prague. For Cie Yan Duyvendak he went on tour through French-speaking Europe as a solo singer and dancer in the socially critical piece Sound of Music , in choreographies by Olivier Dubois (including LaBatie Festival Geneva, ActOral Festival Marseille). The production was awarded the 'FEDORA - Van Cleef & Arpelz Prize for Ballet' and the 'Label + théâtre romand' award.

After his first dance theater production Conversation with dead people at the Hamburger Sprachwerk, he choreographed Vivaldi's last dance (based on Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons ) at the Philharmonie Luxembourg, where he also created the choreography for the staged concert The Sorcerer's Apprentice . Also at the Philharmonie he created the concept, direction and choreography for the children's music performance Amazonia with two dancers and the British percussionist ODuo.

From 2013 to 2015, Niemeyer was a lecturer in dance at the Institute for Music at the University of Osnabrück. In 2017 he directed and choreographed the short film KALT (COLD), which was invited to various international film festivals. So u. a. to the Flatlands Dance Film Festival Illinois / USA, the Bucharest International Dance Film Festival, to Moving Images Cyprus, the Filmfest Eichstätt, the LA Dance Film Festival, Dance on Camera in New York or to the FILMZ Festival of German Cinema in Mainz. For the ARD film 'once son, always son' and a. with Christiane Hörbiger and Mario Adorf , directed by Thomas Jauch , Niemeyer is not only responsible for the choreography in the film, but also took on the supporting role of the teacher 'Jan Berger'. The shooting took place in Hamburg at the beginning of 2018.
