Martin Markert

Martin Markert (born July 20, 1982 in Berlin ) is a German musical actor .

Life

Markert passed his business school diploma and began vocal training from 1997 to 2002 at the "Friedrich von Flotow" district music school with Rosemarie Christmann while he was still at school. In 2002 he was a prizewinner at Jugend musiziert and performed as a soloist in the 2002 Prize Winners' Concert at the Rostock University of Music and Theater .

From 2002 he completed musical training at the Joop van den Ende Academy in Hamburg, which he graduated in 2004. He received further training from January to March 2006 in Los Angeles and also attended several workshops and master classes with, among others, Pia Douwes and Cornelia Drese. In 2001 he became a member of the Rostock Singing Academy and took part in numerous galas. At the same time he had his first stage role. In the opera Aida he was seen in the ensemble at the Rostock Volkstheater . After his training he was engaged as Bartholomäus in Jesus Christ Superstar . He sang this role in the 2004/05 season at the Stadttheater Lüneburg .

In the musical Ludwig² he was seen as valet Müller, Schattenmann (alternating) and cover for the roles of Prince Otto von Bayern and Rudolf Graf von Rettenberg in 2005 and 2006 alongside Bruno Grassini and Jan Ammann . Often the tenor (with high falsetto) played the title role in the musical Joseph and, as the cover, Crown Prince Rudolf in Elisabeth . In 2007 he was a member of the ensemble in Elisabeth as part of the United Bühnen Wien's Japan tour in performances at the Umeda Arts Theater in Osaka and at the Koma Theater in Shinjuku , Tokyo, as the understudy of Rudolf. The play was re-staged at the Theater des Westens in Berlin; Here, too, Markert took on the role of Crown Prince Rudolf as an understudy, as well as at Theater 11 in Zurich and on the following tour, which made stops in Frankfurt, Munich (Deutsches Theater), Bregenz and Düsseldorf (Capitol Theater). He also took part in the musical Dracula by Frank Wildhorn .

From October 2010 to May 2011, Markert played the leading role of the space prince Rodin in the revival of the Swiss musical Space Dream . Then he returned to Ludwig2 . From July 2011, Markert took over Prince Otto of Bavaria in the new production of Ludwig2 - The King Returns and was the first cover for the title role Ludwig II .; in the title role he was seen there as an understudy.

In the 2012/13 season Markert played the role of Jesus of Nazareth in Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar at the Bremerhaven City Theater . In the 2013/14 season he was seen from October 2013 as a young hippie Claude Hooper Bukowski in the musical Hair at the Nordharzer Städtebundtheater . In October 2014 he made his debut in the leading role of Tony in West Side Story at the Halle Opera House ; Markert was involved in the new production of Elisabeth - the musical in Shanghai / China and the subsequent tour in January 2015 a. a. to see in the lead role "Death".

In 2017 he was seen at the summer festival in Berlin's Admiralspalast as Willy Wormser and newspaper boy in the musical Der Hauptmann von Köpenick . At the end of 2017 he played a. a. in the Berlin Admiralspalast the rich Benjamin Coffin III. and u. a. As a cover also the AIDS sufferer and drug addict Roger Davis on the 20 year anniversary tour of the Broadway musical Rent with further performances in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. At the beginning of 2018, Markert was on tour through Germany, Austria and Denmark with the musical gala “The Night of Musicals” . As part of the musical gala, he also appeared as a soloist in the Royal Copenhagen Opera . In the summer of 2018, Markert will be a guest at the Jagsthausen Castle Festival as Bishop of Bamberg and as butcher in Goethe's play Götz von Berlichingen ; He also takes over the crazy tribe leader George Berger in the cult musical Hair and the drag queen Waltraud in the musical The Moving Man .
