The Joop van den Ende Academy was a private vocational school founded in 2003 in the Speicherstadt Hamburg and offered state-recognized professional training for musical performers. The school was named after the founder, Joop van den Ende . The school closed in the summer of 2016.

history

With the opening of the training center on September 1, 2003 in Hamburg's Speicherstadt , Stage Entertainment ” created an opportunity to prepare young talents for work in musicals. With the winter semester 2011/2012, the school changed the training system. Since then, admission has only been possible with a full scholarship awarded by the Friends of the Joop van den Ende Academy. The monthly school fee of 1000 euros no longer had to be borne by the students themselves. In order to guarantee the quality of the training, the number of training positions was also reduced from 16 to 10 per year.

In January 2016 it became known that the vocational school will be closed due to austerity measures. At the time of the announcement, 24 trainees were registered.

education

The duration of the training was usually three years. A maximum of 10 (up to 2011 16) trainees were accepted per year. The lessons, which mainly consisted of the three areas of “acting”, “singing” and “dance”, were held by an international team of lecturers, most of whom were on stage in musical or theater productions in addition to their work at the school. This should ensure that the training is as practical as possible.
