Ethan Freeman

Ethan Daniel Freeman (born March 8, 1959 in Mount Vernon , New York ) is an American musical actor .

Life

Freeman studied at Yale University and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna .

Freeman, whose musical background is actually in the field of opera , has been active in Europe since 1981 . Important roles in his career include the roles of Luigi Lucheni ( Elisabeth , Vienna 1992, directed by Harry Kupfer), as well as Kurt Korn ( Finix , Vienna 2003) and the Sheriff of Nottingham ( Robin Hood - Für Liebe und Justice , Bremen 2005). He also took on the title role several times in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera (Vienna 1988, London 1994, Toronto 1997 and Essen 2006) and celebrated great success in the demanding double role Jekyll & Hyde (Bremen 1999). For his portrayal in this production, he was voted best male leading actor of 1999 by the readers of the specialist magazine Musicals .

In addition to his appearances in musicals, Freeman sings as a soloist in concerts and television shows. He has performed in ten countries, including New York's Carnegie Hall and London's Night of the Proms . Freeman sang various programs on Gala trips to Europa and sings regularly on the summer night of the musical in Dinslaken . In May 2007 his first solo program Is this home premiered in Oberhausen .

He is married to the musical actress Monika-Julia Dehnert .
