Alexander Klaws

Alexander Klaws (born September 3, 1983 in Ahlen ) is a German singer , musical performer , actor and presenter . He was best known in 2003 as the winner of the first season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar .

biography

Private life

Alexander Klaws grew up in Sendenhorst and sang in the big band of the Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium in Münster in his youth . He made his television debut at the age of ten on the Mini Playback Show . He has been married to the Swiss musical artist Nadja Scheiwiller since 2019 ; the two met in 2010 during rehearsals for the musical Tarzan . The couple have two sons.

Solo career

In 2003 he won the first season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar ; he prevailed against Juliette Schoppmann in the final . He received a recording deal from Sony BMG . He then released his debut single Take Me Tonight , which sold over a million times. The single Free Like the Wind , which also reached platinum status, made it to number one in the German charts. Both titles were written by Dieter Bohlen . The first album, Take Your Chance , was released in April 2003.

In the same year he published his autobiography under the title I'm - Alexander . At the end of the year he took part in the show Superstar Worldwide , in which eleven international winners of the Pop Idol formats competed against each other. He took penultimate place with the song Maniac from the movie Flashdance . In July 2004 his second album followed with the title Here I Am , which was only partially produced by Bohlen; Klaws now also worked with other producers. Both albums made it to the top of the sales charts.

From 2005 to 2006 he retired from the music business and completed a musical education. In 2006 he released his third album Attention! . After three years, the management contract between him and 19 Entertainment (DSDS) expired. His fourth album What else do you want ?! , in German for the first time, was released in April 2008. The single Welt was released at the same time as the album. In September 2011 he released his fifth album For All Times . From December 2012 to December 2014 he performed with his solo program You belong my heart .

In April 2013 he was back on the DSDS stage for the tenth anniversary and presented his single Himmel und Hölle . In the same month he accompanied Leona Lewis , the English X-Factor winner, on her tour of Germany. His single Morgen explodiert die Welt took first place in the German airplay charts in 2014 in the category “ Germany Conservative Pop ”. Also in 2015 he reached number one on the charts with his song This Summer . In October 2015, Klaws released his sixth studio album Auf den Bühne, Getig, Los! . The first single, Magnet , again reached number one in “Germany Conservative Pop”.

Klaws is one of the soloists in the Disney in Concert production, who tours Germany every year with the Hollywood Sound Orchestra and performed in July 2016 with the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin in the Berlin Waldbühne . He has played at many festivals and stages such as the Hamburg Harbor Birthday , the Hammer Summer and at Kult am Kalkberg in Bad Segeberg . During his career he sold around 3.2 million records and received numerous gold and platinum awards.

Musical and stage

From 2005 to 2006 he completed a musical training at the Joop van den Ende Academy in Hamburg. Here he met the musical actress Sabrina Weckerlin , with whom he sang the song All (I Ever Want) , the English version of the title song from the musical The Three Musketeers , in 2005 . He made his stage debut in 2006 under the direction of Roman Polański as Alfred in the musical version of Roman Polański's Dance of the Vampires at the Theater des Westens in Berlin, where he played until March 2008.

In May 2010 he took on the leading role in the Disney musical Tarzan in the Theater Neue Flora in Hamburg and played it until June 2013. In the summer of 2013 he played the ranger in the musical Der Schuh des Manitu at the Freilichtspiele Tecklenburg . The music magazine Da Capo honored Klaws at the Musical Awards 2013 for his performances as the best male actor in the "Short Term Musical" category. In 2014 he was also on stage in Tecklenburg, this time as "Joseph" in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat .

From October 2014 to November 2015 he was seen at the Dortmund Theater as Jesus in the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar . BroadwayWorld , one of the largest international websites about musicals, recognized him for his portrayal as the best actor in a musical.  In the musical elections of the musical magazine Musical 1 , he was voted best musical actor in 2014 and 2015. From January to June 2016 he also took on this role at Theater Basel under the direction of Tom Ryser.

In the summer of 2016 he could be seen on the Tecklenburg open-air stage as Toni Manero in the musical Saturday Night Fever . From November 2016 he took on the role of Tarzan again for six months at the Metronom Theater in Oberhausen . In 2017 he played the title role of Old Surehand on the open-air stage of the Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg . In December 2017, Ghost - Das Musical celebrated its German premiere at the Theater des Westens in Berlin. From December 2017 to October 2018 he and Willemijn Verkaik played the leading roles. For his role as Sam he was named "Best Actor in a Musical" at the Broadway World Awards 2018 (Germany) .

In March 2019 Knie - The Circus Musical celebrated its world premiere in Dübendorf, Switzerland. It tells the family history of the Knie family , and Klaws played the main role as the founding father Friedrich Knie . From June to September 2019 he was seen in the role of Winnetou at the Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg in the open-air play Unter Vultures - The Bear Hunter's Son .

After small supporting roles in television series such as B. The Dream Hotel (to which he and the theme music Fly Away sang) took over in 2008 Klaws a starring role in the Sat.1 - telenovela Anna and love to see and spent two years as a day in the role of Lars Hauschke. Klaws supports the children's stroke aid . He regularly visits the children's ward of the Neurological Rehabilitation Center in Friedehorst (NRZ) to bake, sing or dance with the children. In 2015 he was the godfather of the project Lichtblicke at the RTL donation marathon in cooperation with the Lions Club . In 2017 he also worked for the RTL donation marathon in the Ninja Warrior Germany celebrity special .
