Sabrina Weckerlin (born February 8, 1986 in Villingen-Schwenningen ) is a German singer and musical actress.

Life

education

Weckerlin grew up in Furtwangen , had classical singing training from the age of eleven and worked in several bands as a teenager. Her professional training began in September 2003 at the Joop van den Ende Academy in Hamburg , where she was able to assert herself in the selection process as the “youngest hiphop and jazz dance teacher ” in the country and began a three-year course, half of which was financed by the magazine Bravo .

Career

At the end of 2004 she received the offer to play one of the leading roles, Constance , in the stage entertainment musical Die Drei Musketiere in Berlin . Weckerlin recorded the duet All (I Ever Want) / Alles together with Alexander Klaws . The single reached number 12 in the German charts in 2005. Weckerlin also appeared as a soloist in the musicals Dirty Dancing - The Original Live on Stage , Elisabeth - The Legend of a Saint and on the tour gala "Best of Musical".

From autumn 2007 to November 2008 she was on stage in Stuttgart as "Elphaba" (old) at the German premiere of Wicked - Die Hexen von Oz .

On January 30th, 2009 she played the leading role of 'Magrid Arnaud' in the musical Marie Antoinette at the European premiere in Bremen. From July 3rd to 19th, 2009 she took on the role of Elisabeth in the musical Elisabeth - The Legend of a Saint in Eisenach . From November 14th, 2009 to January 10th, 2010 Weckerlin was at That's Life! Dinner & Musical in the Capitol Theater in Düsseldorf on stage.

In 2010 she was on stage in the musical Bonifatius - The Musical in Fulda and Erfurt .

Sabrina Weckerlin was the leading actress in the musical Die Päpstin - Das Musical , which was performed from June 3 to August 14, 2011 in the Schlosstheater Fulda.

From February 4, 2012 to March 18, 2012 Weckerlin was   on tour in Germany with the Best-of-Musical Gala 2012 .

From July 6, 2012, Weckerlin was back   on stage as Die Päpstin - The Musical in the Schlosstheater Fulda, and she also played at the world premiere of Artus Excalibur in St. Gallen. In the 2014 Musical1.de musical elections, Sabrina Weckerlin was voted third in the category “Best Musical Actress” with 14% of all votes cast. In 2015 Weckerlin took on a role in the world premiere of Bussi - Das Munical, a jukebox musical by Thomas Hermanns . The planned resumption of the musical in 2016 was canceled in December 2015. Spotlight Musicals announced that Sabrina Weckerlin will play the leading female role in the world premiere of the musical Der Medicus in 2016 .

From November 2016 to autumn 2017 she was seen as 'Kala' in the Disney musical Tarzan at the Stage Metronom Theater in Oberhausen. In the annual elections of the online magazine “Musical 1”, the Disney musical Tarzan was voted “Most Popular Musical - Long Run”, and Sabrina Weckerlin took second place among “Most Popular Musical Actresses 2016”. In the summer of 2018 she again took on the title role in the musical Die Päpstin when the play was revived in the Schlosstheater Fulda. In December 2019, she also played the role in a guest performance of the play at the Hameln Theater.

As a soloist she was part of the "Disney in Concert - Magic Moments" and "Disney in Concert - Wonderful Worlds" tours in 2017 and 2018/19. In the elections of the German musical portal -Musical1- she was chosen as the “most popular musical actress 2018” with over 250,000 votes cast.

In June 2019 she released her first solo album “I'm Not Done Yet”, which she recorded with the pop and Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn . He composed all the songs for the album except for "Lie To Say Goodbye", a duet penned by his son Jake, who also sings this piece with Sabrina.

In the German version of the Disney film Frozen II , Weckerlin sings the role of Queen Iduna von Arendelle and in the 2019 musical film Cats (2019) she can be heard as the German voice of the cat Cassandra.

Weckerlin has been a member of the board of trustees of the Deutsche Kinderkrebsnachsorge - Foundation for chronically ill children since 2005 . The foundation is committed to families with chronically ill children and supports the Tannheim aftercare clinic and the Berlin-Brandenburg children's aftercare clinic .

Sabrina Weckerlin is also a member of the board of trustees of the German Foundation for People with Down's Syndrome.
