Seninka is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located seven kilometers south of Vsetín and belongs to the Okres Vsetín .

geography

Seninka is located in the northeast of the Vizovická vrchovina . The village extends at the eastern foot of the Vartovna (653 m) in the valley of the Senínka brook, a left tributary to the Senice . The Nezdoby (595 m) rises to the north. The village, located in a large clearing in the woods, can only be reached by road from Valašská Polanka.

Neighboring towns are Lhota u Vsetína in the north, Leskovec in the northeast, Valašská Polanka in the southeast, Prlov in the south, Jasenná in the southwest and Liptál in the northwest.

history

Seninka was first mentioned in 1503. At that time the place belonged to the Vsetín rule . The neighboring mountain Vartovna served as a Wachberg (Wartberg) because of its wide view over the mountains. In the 17th century Seninka was attacked several times by the Turks . In 1679 the Wallachian village came under the rule of Vizovice .

The inhabitants of Seninka were almost all Protestant at the end of the 18th century and in March 1780 a Protestant preacher came to the area. On April 28, 1780, Seninka experienced an unexpected visit from Emperor Joseph II , who left the planned route on his journey from Valašské Klobouky to Vsetín from the Senitza valley, which was impassable due to flooding , and asked residents to point a way over the Nezdoby to Rokytnice . On the way to Vsetín Castle, the weaver and bookbinder Jan Aron Bubela from Seninka threw the emperor a request from 25 Wallachian villages for religious freedom in the carriage, which Joseph II accepted and promised him his protection. On May 12, 1780, one of the largest unauthorized meetings of the Evangelicals took place in Seninka before the Edict of Tolerance was passed, at which around 4,000 people gathered.

In 1834, 340 people lived in Seninka. In the past, the inhabitants of the village lived next to agriculture, mainly from the production of shingles in homework. In 1846 a school was established in Seninka as a branch of Liptál . In 1910 the village had 455 inhabitants. Many of the residents have worked in Vsetín's factories since the 20th century. During World War II, received in August 1944 in the village and on the Paseken air landed Soviet partisans shelter against German Wehrmacht units were fighting. In the 1970s, the abandoned farms were cleared and forested.
