history
The settlement named after the Senice River was founded at the end of the 15th century. Together with Petrovska Lhota , Pulčín and the later extinct village of Zubrůvka, Seminka belonged to the Pulčín castle. In 1517 Seminka consisted of three properties. In 1521 the place was called Srninka and in 1530 as Jesenice . In the 16th century Senice was enlarged by the settlement of Wallachian Pasekars. With the connection of the independent Pulčín castle to the Brumov rule in 1549, Senice became subject to it. The place name Senitzy has been handed down from 1573 . Due to its location on the border between Moravia and Hungary, the village was repeatedly affected by incursions by war people. During the Turkish invasion of 1663 a Turkish army with 17,000 men was encamped near Senice. The village was completely burned down and most of the inhabitants were murdered or abducted. In 1670 the village was called Senytze . From 1710 Senice belonged together with the share Dvořisko von Francova Lhota to the Brumov share of the Counts of Waldorf on Hošťálková . The place name Senitz has been handed down from 1718 . After the division of the Brumov lordship, the village fell to the Other Lordship of Brumov (Brumov II) belonging to the Counts of Waldorf in 1731 . In 1790 there were 586 people living in Senice. The village was always subject to Brumov II ( Haluzice ) until the middle of the 19th century .
After the abolition of patrimonial Senice / Senitz formed from 1850 a community in the district administration Uherský Brod and the judicial district Valašské Klobouky . At that time the village had 691 inhabitants. The residents practiced agriculture, which was not enough for a living due to the mountainous location. That is why they made wooden shingles, made woolen Wallachian stockings and quilted soles for the Wallachian Papučář . Because of the great poverty, a wave of emigration to America began in Senice around 1900. In 1900 Senice had 735 inhabitants, and in 1921 there were 823. To distinguish it from other places called Senice, the place name was extended on January 1, 1925 by the prefix Valašská . During the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia there was a border guard in Valašská Senice from 1939 to 1945; barracks were built in the village and on Mikulinův vrch. During this time five residents in German concentration camps were murdered. After the end of the war, some of the residents migrated to the border areas . In 1949 the community was assigned to the Okres Valašské Klobouky. In 1950 there were 702 people living in Valašská Senice. After the cancellation of the Okres Valašské Klobouky, Valašská Senice came to the Okres Vsetín in late 1960 . In 1970 the village had 725 inhabitants. The primary school was closed in 1976 and the children were retrained to Francova Lhota. In 1980 it was incorporated into Francova Lhota. As part of Aktion Z , a swimming pool was built in 1982 and a new syringe house two years later. Since 1990 Valašská Senice has formed its own municipality again. There is a winter sports center by the Selanka mining area.
