history

The village probably arose as early as the 13th century in the course of the great colonization. Yablunka was first mentioned in writing on June 24, 1505 in the Olomouc table when Peter von St. Georgen and Bösing sold the Vsetín estate two years earlier to the five brothers from the Boleradic line of the Lords of Kunstadt . The place name is derived from jabloň ( apple tree ). In the 16th century, Wallachian cattle herders began to settle the Wsetin mountainous region from the east , who laid out Paseken in the forests. In 1535 the village was called Jablunka . In 1548 the Nekeš von Landek acquired the rule. Between 1567 and 1579, Zdeněk Kavka Říčanský on Brumov administered the property as the guardian of the underage Jan Nekeš von Landek. He forbade the subjects to clear forest to create Paseken as well as the free use of wood. At the same time he increased the labor service. With his neighbors, in particular the Count Zierotin on Meziříčí , Říčanský had constant deals. After reaching the age of majority, his ward took over rule in 1579. In 1613 the widowed Lukrecia Nekešová von Landek passed the rule to her second husband Albrecht von Waldstein . He entered military service after the death of his wife and transferred the administration of his dominions to Václav Štáblovský von Kovalovice. The next owner was Zdenko Žampach von Potštejn. On May 14, 1634, the Lords of Žampach sold the Vsetín rule to Cardinal Péter Pázmány , who initiated an ultimately unsuccessful recatholicization. His heir Nikolaus Pázmány de Panasz continued this course. On June 9, 1642, the Protestant Witzov family was attacked by the imperial colonel Johann von Winz and kidnapped in a wooden shed on the village square. Between 1642 and 1644 the area was ravaged by the Swedes. The Wallachian uprising was put down in 1644. Its leaders, including Jiří Rozler and Mikula Tomášů from Jablůnka, were executed in Brno . In 1660 there was a water mill and a board saw in Jablůnka, 201 people lived in the village. From 1670 the village was called Jablonka . In 1818 there were two smaller sawmills in the village in addition to the paper mill. In 1820 Jablonka had 559 inhabitants. At this time, the paper mill started producing wood pulp paper. Until the middle of the 19th century Jablunka was always subject to the Vsetín rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Jablunka formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Valašské Meziříčí . In 1860 the Reich glassmaker dynasty founded a glass factory in Jablunka, which was expanded to include a refinery and grinding shop by 1904. In 1901 the Dohnal porcelain painting was established, which continued to produce until 1928. In 1885 the railway from Mährisch Weißkirchen to Wsetin was inaugurated and the place received a train station. Since 1910 the place belongs to the Vsetín district. Between 1911 and 1921, woven seats were manufactured in Jablunka for the Thonet brothers' furniture factories . By the middle of the 20th century, several small factories for wooden shoes, toothpicks and buttons were built in Jablunka, which did not survive the Great Depression. The current place name Jablůnka was introduced in 1924. The bentwood furniture factory built in 1926 burned down in 1932. The lower school was inaugurated in 1930. In the course of the double-track expansion of the railway line, the station was redesigned in 1937. The upper school was built between 1947 and 1954 and the kindergarten between 1976 and 1980. Between 1985 and 1990 Pržno was incorporated. In the 2001 census, the village had 1975 inhabitants.
