Leskovec (German Leskawetz ) is a municipality with 668 inhabitants (July 3, 2006) in the Zlínský kraj region ( Czech Republic ).
location
Leskovec lies in the valley of the Senice River , about six kilometers south of the city of Vsetín . The Vizovické vrchy Mountains extend to the west and the ridge of the Javorník Mountains to the east . Leskovec is on the tourist club Hornolidečsko involved and on the micro-region Polanecko .
history
Leskovec was first mentioned in 1361 when the Cistercian monastery Smilheim in Wisowitz broke out with its neighbors. After the monastery was dissolved in 1584, Leskovec came into the hands of Zdeňek Kavkov z Říčan . During the Thirty Years' War, the robber captain Macek Ondra Jedlička rioted in the area. In 1638 he was finally captured and executed in Olomouc . During the invasion of Tatar and Turkish armies, the place was sacked in 1663. After the ratification of the tolerance patent by Joseph II. , A large part of the population of the Protestant movement followed.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the inhabitants of the agricultural village mostly found work in what was then the industrial and district town of Vsetín.
Over the years the place was also named Lestzna, Lescowecz, Leschow, Leskovec, Lijskowecz, Leskowecz, Leskowetz, Leskowietz .
