Zubří (German Zubern ) is a city in the Czech Republic . It is located four kilometers west of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in Moravian Wallachia and belongs to the Okres Vsetín .

geography

The town lies on the right bank of the Rožnovská Bečva between the mountain ranges of the Wsetin Mountains and the Moravian-Silesian Beskids . The European road 442 / state road 35 leads through Zubří from Hranice to Slovakia . To the southeast lies the 522 m high Hradisko with the ruins of Rožnov Castle.

history

The place was founded in 1310. Zubří was part of the Rosenau rule .

After the abolition of patrimonial, Zubří became an independent municipality in 1850. Previously, Georg Palacký, František Palacký's father, was the last successor of Zubří.

With the local railway Wallachisch Meseritsch – Rožnau inaugurated in 1892, Zubern received a railway connection. On February 22, 2002, Zubří was granted city rights.

In addition to embroidery, the town also cultivates the traditional craft of broom making from birch veins.
