The railway line Valašské Meziříčí – Rožnov pod Radhoštěm is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic , which was originally built and operated by the kk priv. Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn (KFNB) as a local railway Wallachisch Meseritsch – Rožnau . It runs from Valašské Meziříčí to Rožnov pod Radhoštěm .

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

On July 27, 1882, the Austrian Local Railway Company (ÖLEG) received the concession for the local railway from Pohl to Wsetin . When this concession was changed on December 16, 1884 in favor of a new route from Mährisch Weißkirchen (Hranice na Moravě), the construction of a branch line to Rožnau (Rožnov) was now included. July 1st, 1886 was set as the completion date. However, for financial reasons, construction did not begin.

Vehicles of the ČD series 844 ("RegioShark") have been in use in passenger transport since 2019

On December 24, 1887, the local railway Mährisch Weißkirchen – Wsetin was transferred to the KFNB, which had already taken over management there since October 1, 1887. The Ministry of Commerce transferred the associated license on April 30, 1891 from the ÖLEG to the KNFB. The KNFB was obliged to complete the local railway to Rožnau within one year “ after the building consensus was granted. "

The line was opened on June 1, 1892. The KFNB carried out the operation itself.

After the nationalization of the KFNB in 1906, the line belonged to the network of the kk state railways (kkStB). In 1912, the local railway's timetable showed a total of four mixed pairs of trains. They needed between 45 minutes and an hour for the 14-kilometer route.

After the First World War , which Austria-Hungary lost , the line became the property of the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD). In the 1920s there was a significant increase in the timetable and a reduction in travel times to around half an hour. The winter timetable of 1937/38 recorded a total of nine pairs of trains that stopped at all intermediate stations.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 2019 timetable, passenger trains run approximately one hour .
