geography

Poličná extends at the northeastern foot of the Hostýnské vrchy at the transition to Kelčská pahorkatina in the valley of the Loučka brook. The village is on the left side of the Vsetínská Bečva , which joins the Rožnovská Bečva to the Bečva on the northeastern outskirts of Poličná . To the north rises the Strážka (424 m), in the northeast of the Junákov and Němčíkův Kopec, to the south the Píšková (578 m) and in the southwest of the Petříkovec (532 m). The railway runs through Poličná between Holešov and Valašské Meziříčí . There is no train station.

Neighboring towns are Hájky, Bojkov, Juřinka , Na Hrně and Vrbí in the north, Štěpnice and Krásno nad Bečvou in the northeast, Valašské Meziříčí in the east, Kotlina, Podlesí and Jarcová in the south-east, Úlehla, Bražiska, Pasenovéí, South, Pasenovéí Na Pasekách, Oznice and Dolní Dvůr in the southwest, Zavadilka and Branky in the west and Háje, Vystrkov and Lhota in the northwest.

history

The village was probably founded before 1270 together with Branky during the great colonization phase by the Olomouc bishopric . The first written tradition of Arnoltovicz took place in 1310. As early as 1307 Georgius Arnoltovicz , whose father is considered to be the builder of the Arnoltovice Castle , was marshal of Bishop John VI. called by Waldstein . In 1389 Heinrich de Arnoltowicz and Bělá handed over the castle with the town Meziříčí , the village Arnoltowicz and a mill on the Bečva to Bishop Nikolaus von Riesenburg . To the west of Arnoltowicz, located at the foot of the castle hill, there was another settlement that was first mentioned in 1391 as Paliczna . The existence of the two villages Arnoltowicz and Policzna has been handed down from 1396 . To the north-west was the village of Drozdova Lhota , which has been documented since 1392 , was called Radslavova Lhota from 1437 and died out at the transition from the 16th to the 17th century to the Vystrkov farm. In 1449 the first form of the name Poličná can be traced . In the middle of the 15th century the seat of the episcopal feudal lordship Arnoltowicz was moved to Meziříčí. At the transition from the 15th to the 16th century, the castle became extinct. In 1516 Poličná consisted of 27 farms, a bailiwick and a mill. The village on the trade route to Kroměříž was just as big as the town of Rožnov . The last mention of a village Araltowicze took place in 1557, it merged with Poličná into one unit. The oldest local seal of Poličná comes from the 18th century. The inhabitants of the village lived mainly from agriculture. In the 19th century the stone grinding trade found its way. The first school lessons were held in 1804 and a school building was built around 1830. In 1832 the Revír forest house was built south of the village in the Hostýnské vrchy . In the same year the Meziříčí shooting club set up its shooting range in the corridors of Poličná opposite the confluence of the two Bečvas. In 1835 Poličná consisted of 144 houses and had 898 inhabitants. Until the middle of the 19th century, Poličná always remained subject to the Meziříčí rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Poličná / Policzna formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Valašské Meziříčí. Between 1885 and 1888, the railway line between Holešov and Valašské Meziříčí was built. In addition to other businesses, there was a steam saw and a hydropower plant in Poličná in 1924. In 1950 a new school house was inaugurated. After the cancellation of the Okres Valašské Meziříčí, Poličná was assigned to the Okres Vsetín in 1960. On January 1, 1976, it was incorporated into Valašské Meziříčí. The shooting range is now used by sport shooters for long and short guns and is also open to the public.

On April 21, 2012, the residents of the place decided to separate from Valašské Meziříčí, so that Poličná is again an independent municipality from January 1, 2013.
