history

The village was probably formed during the great colonization phase. The first written mention of the village took place in 1376 as part of the episcopal fiefdom Arnoltovice . In 1396 the place was named Ozdnicze , 1403 Oscznicz and 1505 Oznicze . The village later became extinct. In 1535 Wozniczy was called a desolate village. In 1580 the desert was called Ozdniczy .

After the Thirty Years War, the rule of Valašské Meziříčí had the place repopulated. In 1663 there were nine cottages in the valley, the residents of which struck Paseken and planted fields. At that time the settlement was called Konvice and Nová Dědina . Successively more Wallachian Pasekars settled scattered across the valley. In 1751 the settlement was called Oznicza . Agriculture in the mountain villages was not enough to support the residents. They earned extra income by working at home by making brooms and making wooden implements, carts and sleds, and Wallachian shoes. In 1846 the community was called Osnicza . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was subject to the rule of Valašské Meziříčí.

After the abolition of patrimonial Osnicza formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Valašské Meziříčí. In 1872 the place was named Osnice and in 1881 Ozdnice . The school was inaugurated in 1878. The place names Osnice and Oznice have been handed down from 1885 . After the cancellation of the Okres Valašské Meziříčí, Oznice was assigned to the Okres Vsetín in 1960. In 1997 the village was hit by a heavy flood of the Oznička. Thereafter, the state forest enterprise Lesy ČR repaired the bank walls of the stream and the construction of weirs with flood backwater systems.
