history

The first written mention of Zděchov was in 1623 as part of the Vsetín reign . The settlement of the place took place partly by Pasekaren from Hovězí . In 1627 the place was called Dechow . On May 14, 1634, the Lords of Žampach Ziechow sold together with the Vsetín reign to Cardinal Péter Pázmány . During the Thirty Years War, the residents of Zděchov took part in the Wallachian Uprising. When it was crushed, half the village was burned down and some of the residents were executed. When Mikuláš Pázmány sold the rule to Georg Illyesházy in 1654, the village was called Zdiechovy . In 1663 the Turks plundered. Zděchov consisted of 28 houses in 1666 and had 206 residents. In 1706 and 1707 the Kuruc attacked the village eleven times. Some of the residents were murdered or abducted. The place name Zychow has been handed down from the 18th century . Between Zděchov and Hovězí there had been disputes over pasture and guarding rights for over 100 years. The main source of income was raising cattle and small livestock. In addition to agriculture, the residents have been producing wooden tenons in particular since the 18th century. The oldest local seal dates from 1748. It shows a daisy and bears the inscription PECZET P OBCI D ZDIECHOWA .

After the abolition of patrimonial Zděchov / Sdiechow formed from 1850 a community in the district administration Valašské Meziříčí . At that time Zděchov had 933 residents who lived in 162 houses. At the same time, a large wave of emigration overseas began. At the beginning of the 20th century some of the residents emigrated again and looked for work in America. Zděchov has belonged to the Vsetín region since 1910. In 1944 Zděchov reached its highest population with 1152 inhabitants. After the end of the Second World War, numerous residents emigrated to the border areas and by 1946 the population had fallen to 573. In 1984 Zděchov consisted of 215 houses and had 660 inhabitants. Since 2001 the community has had a coat of arms and a banner.

There is a motocross track in Zděchov, where the Zděchovská grapa race has been held annually since 1975 .
