history
The Vsetínská Bečva valley at the confluence of the Velká Stanovnice was uninhabited until the second half of the 19th century. Salomon Reich (1814–1900), who came from an important family of glassmakers, built a new glassworks above Nový Hrozenkov in 1862/63, which he named after his stepmother Karolinenhütte . A settlement developed around the glass factory, which was also given the name Karolinina Huť / Karolinenhütte. In 1908 Karolinenhütte received a railway connection with the local railway Wsetin – Groß-Karlowitz .
On January 1, 1949 Karolinina Huť was detached from the Nový Hrozenkov municipality and formed its own municipality. On June 21, 1951, the name was changed to Karolinka. Between 1977 and 1986 the Velká Stanovnice dam was built to supply drinking water to parts of the Okres Vsetín and Zlín . It holds 7.5 million m³ of water and has an area of 50 ha. Karolinka has been a town since June 4, 1998. Today the glassworks operates as Crystalex as
