history

Along with Rožnov pod Radhoštěm and Zubří, Vidče is one of the oldest villages in the Rosenau region. The first written mention of Vitče took place in 1310 as the property of Bohuslav de Crazna , where a bailiff was also named. In 1411, Lacek von Krawarn granted the right of repatriation to the Rosenau domain, and the village was named Vič . The place name Fojtova Vidče is from 1507 and Wittcze from 1515 . The first land register was created in 1589, and ten properties are recorded in it by 1600. Between 1600 and 1620 there are four inns and five chalets, including the Vogteimühle in 1607. A lime quarry and lime kiln were built on Vápenka Hill in 1602. In 1621 the Vogt Jakub Hrbáč led the rebels in the Rosenau rule during the Wallachian uprising. In 1647 there were twenty chalets in Vič . The hoof register from 1676 shows 53 properties for Widcze , including the bailiwick, 18 taverns and 34 chalets. In the 18th century, iron ore was mined in the upper village on Svatoňku hill, which was delivered to the iron hammer near Zubří. In 1720 the place was called Wicze and in 1751 as Widcze . In 1790 the village consisted of 191 houses and had 920 inhabitants. Schooling began in 1821 in house no. 13, previously it was in Zubří. In 1834 Widcze had grown to 180 houses in which 1350 people lived. The inhabitants of the village lived from agriculture, in the mountains south of the village numerous Pasekaren economy emerged. In the 19th century, tobacco smuggling from Hungary to Moravia was the main source of income for many families. Some of them operated home weaving as extra income. In 1838 a school house was built. In 1846 the village was called Wicze . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to Rožnov.

After the abolition of patrimonial Wicze / Witsche formed from 1849 a municipality in the district administration Meziříčí . Between 1855 and 1868 it was assigned to the Rožnov pod Radhoštěm district, and from 1868 back to the Meziříčí district. From 1872 the municipality used the name Vič , from 1881 Vitče and from 1893 Vidče . In the 1920s, several small workshops were opened in Vidče that made chairs, carts, toys and other wooden objects by hand. Between 1939 and 1940 the old school was replaced by a new building. In 1953, the woodworks joined the Portáš Valašská Bystřice cooperative, after which part of theirs had been producing for Portáš since 1951. After the Okres Valašské Meziříčí was abolished, Vidče was assigned to the Okres Vsetín in 1960. Between 1968 and 1972 the new school was added to the existing school building. In 1990 the construction of a gym began. At that time, orders for the Portáš workshops began to decline, which ultimately led to their closure.
