history
The place was probably built between the 13th and 14th centuries in the course of the establishment of villages along the Moravian - Hungarian border to fortify them. The place was first mentioned in 1499 as Lhota and was one of the numerous settlements that were temporarily released from obligations to the authorities after their foundation. Together with Senice , Pulčín and the later extinct village of Zubrůvka, Lhota formed a small partnership of the Brumov lordship . In the first half of the 16th century, the village was led alternately under the different names Dzbelov , Lhoty , Petrovská Lhota , Markova Lhota , Petrovské Lhoty and Zbelovy Lhoty . After Adam von Lomnitz auf Brumov acquired the village from Tristan Franz von Háj in 1549 , it was named Francova Lhota.
Until the 18th century the inhabitants suffered from invasions by the Turks, and in the course of border feuds between Moravian and Hungarian rulers, residents of Francova Lhota were abducted. The economic hardship meant that 330 residents of the town emigrated to America between 1850 and 1914.
The rock and cave landscape of the Pulčínské skály was placed under nature protection in 1966 and declared a National Nature Reserve Pulčín-Hradisko in 1989 . Francova Lhota has had a coat of arms since 1997.
