history

The oldest written mention of Brod was in the Moravian land table and is dated May 20, 1301. Between 1301 and 1305 the village came into the possession of the Dominican Monastery of Olomouc . In old traditions Brod is described as a village at a ford through the Jezda on the way from Dub to Přerov. From this it can be deduced that the Olešnice was previously called Jezda and its earlier course apparently led along the current trench through the place. Since 1536 the place was called Brodek , later in Latin scripts as Brodeca and Brodeka (1771). The oldest place seal dates from 1626; it shows the patroness of the monastery, St. Katharina with a palm frond and straightening wheel and underneath a stag jumping to the left. The registers were kept in Přerov from 1629 , in Kokory from 1700 , in Citov from 1784 and in Brodek from 1914. Until the abolition of the Dominican Sisters' monastery at the Olomouc Katharinenkirche in 1782, Brodek was always one of the monastery's possessions. There was a system of fish ponds along the Olešnice between Brodek, Majetín and Kokory until the end of the 18th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial Brodek formed a community in the Kremsier district administration . In 1855 the community was assigned to the Prerau district and again in 1868 to the Kremsier district. Since 1877 the village belongs to the Okres Přerov. The school was inaugurated in 1881. On April 29, 1909, Brodek was promoted to market by Emperor Franz Joseph. In the 20th century a ditch was led from the Olešnice through Brodek to the sugar factory. In 1926 a second school building was built. The municipality has had the official name affix u Přerova since 1949. The Dytrych family has had a bell foundry in Brodek since 1951. In 1976 the municipalities of Císařov and Luková were incorporated into the Local National Committee (MNV) Brodek u Přerova and in 1983 they were completely incorporated. Císařov broke up again in 1990. On the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the town in 2001, the municipality was granted the right to use a coat of arms and a banner. The coat of arms is based on the historical municipal seal from 1626. Since January 23, 2009 Brodek u Přerova has again the status of Městys. There is a primary school in Brodek u Přerova; Children from Brodek, Luková, Majetín, Citov and Císařov, as well as some from Rokytnice, Kokory and Krčmaň, are educated in the buildings of the old and new schools. The most important companies include the bell foundry Dytrych, the malt factory Moravamalt, as, the mineral water bottler Hanácké závody, as and a bridge directorate ( Mostní obvod ) of the state railway . At the beginning of 2011, the district Brodek u Přerova consisted of 569 houses and had 1829 inhabitants.
