The Strhanec feeds the Draždíř pond southwest of the village. State road I / 47 runs on the northern outskirts between Přerov and Lipník nad Bečvou . The Přerov - Hranice railway line is just under two kilometers north of the village .

Neighboring towns are Radvanice in the north, Hliníky and Osek nad Bečvou in the northeast, Oldřichov and Sušice in the east, Radslavice and Grymov in the southeast, Kozlovice in the south, Lýsky in the southwest, Vinary and Čekyně in the west and Sobíšky and Buk in the northwest.

history

Archaeological finds show that the municipality has been settled since the Bronze Age . The present village was probably founded in the 11th or 12th century. The first mention of the place Prosinic took place on November 3, 1275 in a border document drawn up by Zášit von Kurovice on behalf of Ottokar II. Přemysl between the goods of the monastery Hradisko and the city of Olomouc . From 1349 the village was referred to as Prosyenicz , from 1358 as Prossenicz and 1368 as Prosynicz . The owners of the estate were the Vladiken von Prossenicz until the second half of the 14th century . In 1374 Ulrich and Peter von Prossenicz sold the village of Prozenicz including the associated mill and forests to Nikolaus and Hynko von Naklo. The Lords of Naklo had a fortress built on the Ve valech square . Other forms of the place name were Prostynicz (1389), Prossenicze (1406) and Prosenice (1480). At the beginning of the 15th century, another village was built on the left side of Prosenický potok, Prossinek , which was first documented in 1437 . After the lords of Naklo, the owners of the estate changed frequently until the end of the 15th century. In 1498 Wilhelm II von Pernstein acquired Prossenicze and added the property to his rule Helfenstein . From 1517 the place was called Velké Prosenice , from 1671 Gross Prussenitz , 1672 Magnum Prosenitz , from 1678 Gross Prossenitz , 1771 Prosenitium Majus , from 1836 Hrubé Prosenice , 1847 Velká Prosenice and 1863 Magno Prosenicium . The following landlords were from 1554 the lords of Ludanitz, from 1580 Peter Wok von Rosenberg and from 1592 the lords of Würben auf Freudenthal . At the beginning of the 17th century, Georg von Würben and Freudenthal moved the seat of power to his new Leipnik Palace . His property was confiscated after the battle of the White Mountain and sold to Cardinal Franz Seraph von Dietrichstein . The registers were kept in Přerov from 1629 , in Předmostí from 1661 and in Velké Prosenice from 1786. The school location was Předmostí until the inauguration of the school in Velké Prosenice in 1787. The Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn started traffic between Prerau and Leipnik on August 15, 1842, but the trains rolled past Velké Prosenice. Until the middle of the 19th century, Velké Prosenice always remained subservient to the Prince von Dietrichstein on Leipnik.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Velke Prosenice / United Prossenitz and Malé Prosenice / Small Prossenitz independent communities in the district administration Moravian Weisskirchen . In 1855, both communities were assigned to the Leipnik district and again in 1868 to the Mährisch Weißkirchen district. In the years 1857-1858 a new school building was built. It was not until 1891 that a stop was set up on the Malé Prosenice cadastre at the Emperor Ferdinand's Northern Railway, which was expanded into a station in 1897. The station settlement was built around the station, from which a siding led to the Malé Prosenice sugar factory founded in 1881. In 1890 a post office was set up in Velké Prosenice and in 1895 a telegraph office. In 1899 a farm dairy cooperative was formed. The Bečva was regulated between 1902 and 1907, and the numerous meanders were thrown off. The volunteer fire brigade was established in 1906. In 1910, a cooperative for the consumption of electrical energy was formed, the electricity supplied by the power station of the Peterka mill. In 1939 the school in Velké Prosenice was enlarged for two-class classes. On November 26, 1948, the municipalities of Velké Prosenice and Malé Prosenice were combined into one municipality of Prosenice . Malé Prosenice had 590 and Velké Prosenice 443 inhabitants at that time. The district Velké Prosenice received the new name Prosenice and Malé Prosenice became Proseničky . Since 1949 Prosenice belongs to the Okres Přerov. In the 1950s, a large cowshed complex was built on the southeast edge of the town. The community had almost 1200 inhabitants in the mid-1960s. After that, the population began to decline due to the start of industrial housing construction in the district town of Přerov. In 1970 Prosenice lived 1041 people. In 1976 the municipalities of Buk , Radvanice , Sobíšky and Zábeštní Lhota were affiliated to the Local National Committee (MNV) Prosenice. Proseničky lost the status of a district in 1983. Radvanice, Sobíšky and Zábeštní Lhota were completely incorporated into Prosenice in 1984. Radvanice, Sobíšky and Zábeštní Lhota broke up in 1990 and formed their own communities. Prosenice has had a coat of arms and a banner since 1995. In 1997 the village was hit by a flood of the Bečva. At the 2001 census there were 837 people in Prosenice.
