history

The village emerged during the Slavic settlement of the Záhoří area. It was first mentioned in a document under the name Racowe in 1371, when Jan von Dobrotice sold the village together with Paršovice and Valšovice to Vok von Krawarn , who added the newly acquired places to his rule Helfstein . In 1374 Lacek I von Krawarn became the owner of Helfstein. During the reign of Lacek, who was a follower of the teachings of Jan Hus , Hussites came to the area. After the Krawarns, the family of Counts von Würben and Freudenthal followed . Their property was confiscated after the Battle of the White Mountain and the Helfstein rule was given to the Olomouc bishop, Cardinal Franz Xaver von Dietrichstein , in 1622 . Recatholization began under the Dietrichstein family. After the Helfstein Castle was abandoned, Rakov became subordinate to the Weißkirchen rulership .

After the abolition of patrimonial Rakow became an independent municipality in the district administration of Mährisch Weißkirchen in 1849. The village has been called Rakov since 1872 . In 1930 the village had 463 inhabitants.

In the course of the territorial reform of 1960 and the dissolution of the Okres Hranice, Rakov was assigned to the Okres Přerov on January 1, 1961 .
