history

Měrovice was probably formed at the end of the 13th century between alluvial forests, swamps and ponds. The first written mention of the village Mierovicz , which belonged to the episcopal rule Kojetín , took place in 1406. Georg von Sternberg acquired Kojetín with all accessories as a pledge in 1415. In 1466 the place was referred to as Mirowicze in the land table . When in 1490 the lord of the Kojetín domain, Herald von Kunstadt , overindebted the place, King Vladislav II Jagiello confirmed the old privileges and freedoms of Měrovice. At the beginning of the 16th century, Wilhelm II of Pernstein became the owner of the Kojetín pledge. Other forms of name were Mirovice and Měrovice (1567), Merowitz (1633), Mierowitz (1751), Mierowitium (1771) and Mirowitz (1847). There is evidence of a church in Měrovice since 1597. On December 20, 1720, the pledge returned to the diocese of Prague and in 1726 Archbishop Franz Ferdinand von Kuenburg sold the Kojetín rule to Marie Elisabeth of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf . As a result of their disputes with Elector Friedrich Wilhelm I , the village was sacked by Prussian troops. In 1791 582 people lived in the 62 houses in the village. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained submissive to Kojetín.

After the abolition of patrimonial Měrovice / Mierowitz formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration of Kremsier . In 1855 the municipality was assigned to the Kojetín District and in 1868 again to the Kremsier District. In 1869 Měrovice consisted of 92 houses and 559 inhabitants. Since 1877 the village belonged to the Okres Přerov. In 1900 633 people lived in the village. From 1924 the municipalities led to the official name addition nad Hanou . During the air battle over the Hanna in 1944, the village was bombed by German planes, killing three residents. In the last days of the Second World War, Měrovice was captured by the Red Army after heavy fighting with the Wehrmacht. Měrovice had 709 inhabitants in 1950. In 1949 the community was assigned to Okres Kojetín, after its abolition it came back to Okres Přerov in 1960. Měrovice nad Hanou was incorporated into Kojetín in 1976 as the district Kojetín VI-Měrovice. Since 1990 Měrovice has formed its own municipality again, which has been called Měrovice nad Hanou since the beginning of 1992 . It has had a coat of arms and a banner since 2001. At that time, 694 people lived in the village's 216 houses. Ethnographically, the community belongs to Hanna .
