history

The first written mention of Polcowiz was in 1275 in connection with the Vladiken Dalibor of Polcowiz. In 1365 the Olomouc Chapter acquired half of Polkowicz , and at the end of the 14th century the whole village belonged to it. A school is first mentioned in the 15th century, but there were no regular classes. King George of Podebrady left Polkowycz along with other villages to his follower Ctibor Tovačovský of Cimburg in 1465 . From 1573 the village was called Polkovice , from 1575 as Polkowitz , from 1718 as Pohlkowitz , 1771 as Polkowitium , 1863 as Polcovicium and 1872 as Poikowitz . At the beginning of the 17th century, Polkovice consisted of 52 houses. After the battle of the White Mountain , the diocese was able to take back the property. As a result of the Thirty Years War, part of the property was desolate. The oldest local seal comes from the 17th century; it shows a church with two towers and is inscribed SIGILLV. COMVNITATI. POLCOVIENSIS . In 1711 the village burned down. A little later, the Olomouc provost Wilhelm Adalbert Graf Kolowrat-Liebsteinsky had a baroque castle with an adjoining farmyard built on the edge of the village square. The registers were kept in Kojetín from 1715 and in Klenovice from 1784. In 1793 Polkovice consisted of 68 houses and had 475 inhabitants. Since 1815 regular school lessons have been carried out in a chaluppe on the Mrlínka. Until the middle of the 19th century, Polkovice was always subject to the Olomouc bishopric.

After the abolition of patrimonial Polkovice / Polkowitz formed from 1850 a municipality in the Kremsier district authority . In 1855 the municipality was assigned to the Kojetín District and in 1868 again to the Kremsier District. In 1865 a new school building was built on the Trift at Kapitelhof. Since 1877 the village belongs to the Okres Přerov. After the school was expanded, two-class teaching began in 1894. In 1909 a parish church with its own cemetery was consecrated and the village was separated from the parish of Klenovice. In 1921 the village had 716 inhabitants, the highest number in the history of Polkovice. In 1949 the community was assigned to Okres Kojetín, after its abolition it came back to Okres Přerov in 1960. Between 1983 and 1987 a multi-purpose building for services was built in the village, this also became the seat of the municipal office after the Velvet Revolution . Polkovice has had a coat of arms and a banner since 1995. On the occasion of the consecration of the bells, the local coat of arms was also consecrated by the church in 1998 by the Auxiliary Bishop Hrdlička from Olomouc. Ethnographically, the community belongs to Hanna .

In 1998, two new bells were manufactured at the Dytrych bell foundry in Brodek u Přerova . This was largely financed by a collection that raised 84,500 crowns. The “Maria” bell then returned to Uhřičice.
