history

The place was first mentioned in 1275, when Vlk von Buk was listed as a witness in a border document from the Hradisko monastery . Part of the village has been subject to the Helfštýn Castle since 1374 . A festival existed in Buk since the 14th century. In 1375 Franz von Kunowitz owned the Buk farm. In 1447 Boček von Poročice and Drahotuš sold the village and the Buk farm to Záviš von Kunčice. In 1498 Ulrich von Cimburk left the village, farm and festivals to Wilhelm II von Pernstein . After that the festivities went out. Wilhelm's son Johann sold Buk and other villages together with the market town of Horní Újezd in 1548 to Erasmus von Bobolusk on Veselíčko . During the Thirty Years' War the Polish family Brabanski von Chobrzan acquired the property. After numerous changes of ownership, Buk became part of the Rokytnice estate in 1668 .

In 1784 the parish was established in Velké Prosenice and Buk, which was previously mostly parish to Předmostí and with four farmsteads to Osek , and became one of their parishes. After the abolition of patrimonial Buk formed a municipality in the Kroměříž district from 1850. In 1880 it was assigned to the Přerov district.

In 1909 a two-class village school opened. The residents of the village lived from agriculture, and limestone quarries were operated in the surrounding hills. Between 1908 and 1914 there was a collaboration with the organization "Russkoje Serno" in St. Petersburg , which every year sent young people to Buk to acquire agricultural knowledge. In 1910 Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk visited the place and talked to the farmers. After the Second World War, the cultivation of hops was resumed.

After the Velvet Revolution, the community got its 40 hectare forest property back. However, 80% of this had to be cut down because of bark beetle infestation. Buk belongs to the Pobečví microregion.
