history

Opatovice, whose place name is derived from the Czech "Opat" (German abbot ), was probably created in the second half of the 12th century during the colonization of the Hranice Gaues by the Raigern Benedictines. Opatowitz was first mentioned in writing in 1447 in the country table , when Georg von Krawarn († 1466) sold the Helfenstein reign to Wok (II.) Von Sovinec . In 1480 the place was called Opatovice and in 1771 as Oppatovitium . The oldest local seal dates from 1766. The registers have been kept in Všechovice since 1738 and in Paršovice from 1785. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subject to the rule of Helfenstein or Leipnik .

After the abolition of patrimonial Opatovice / Opatowitz formed with the district Valšovice from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Mährisch Weißkirchen . Valšovice was transferred to Paršovice in 1868. A school was built between 1869 and 1870. In 1870 the village had 607 inhabitants. In 1871 a village fire razed 64 houses, including the new school, to rubble and ashes. The volunteer fire brigade was formed in 1889 as the first association in the village. In 1900 there were 564 people in Opatovice, compared to 658 in 1930. Opatovice was connected to the electricity network in 1930 and to the telephone network the following year. In 1947 the Záhoří cinema started operating . After the Okres Hranice was abolished, Opatovice was assigned to the Okres Přerov in 1960. Between 1976 and 1990 Býškovice was affiliated to the Local National Committee Opatovice. In 1980 the village had 729 inhabitants. Since April 12, 1995 the community has had a coat of arms and a banner.
