Charváty (German Charwath ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is eight kilometers south of Olomouc and belongs to the Okres Olomouc .

geography

Charváty is located on a terrace on the right side of the March in the Upper Moravian Depression ( Hornomoravský úval ). The Olomouc - Nezamyslice railway runs north-east of the village , where the Blatec railway station is also located . The state road II / 435 between Olomouc and Dub nad Moravou runs through Charváty . The U kříže (260 m) rises to the south. The alluvial forest area Království ( Königswald ) extends to the southeast .

Neighboring towns are Tážaly in the north, Blatecký Mlýn, Grygov and Horka in the northeast, Krčmaň in the east, Majetín in the southeast, Drahlov and Čertoryje in the south, Štětovice and Vrbátky in the southwest, Dubany in the west and Hablov, Bystročice and Blatec in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of Chirwat was in 1347. Čertoryje is older, and it has been documented since 1234. In 1357 the place was called Chyrwat , from 1368 Charwat , 1390 Chrwat , 1397 Charwaty , 1414 Chrwaty , from 1506 Charváty , 1587 Charwatten , from 1672 Charwath and 1771 Charwata . The first school in Charváty was established in 1365. In 1611 Johannes Sarkander became pastor in Charváty, he moved to Kroměříž in the same year . Registries have been kept since 1653.

After the abolition of patrimonial Charváty / Charwath formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration of Olomouc. From 1921 the municipality belonged to the Okres Olomouc-venkov. The members of the Wehrmacht who died in the fighting at the end of the Second World War were buried in a mass grave in the cemetery. In 1950 the community came to Okres Olomouc-okolí and since its abolition in 1961 it has belonged to Okres Olomouc. Čertoryje and Drahlov were incorporated in 1961. In 1976 Charváty lost its independence and became a district of Dub nad Moravou . Since 1990 Charváty has formed its own municipality again.

The municipality Charváty consists of the districts Čertoryje ( Tschertorei ), Charváty ( Charwath ) and Drahlov ( Drachlow ).
