history

Bucouaz was first mentioned in a document in 1131 when the Olomouc bishop Heinrich Zdik donated the village to the church on the occasion of the consecration of the new St. Wenceslas Church in Olomouc. At the beginning of the 13th century, part of the village belonged to the royal Olomouc Castle, with the income used to support the royal hunters. From 1213 the place was called Bukowan or Bukouane , 1275 as Bokwan . In 1223 the sovereign share of Bukowan received an exemption from state taxes. Margrave Přemysl of Moravia gave this share to Viktorin von Bludov in 1239. Later the Diocese of Olomouc also acquired this share. Other forms of the name were Bukovany (from 1518), Bokovany (1522) and Bukowanium (from 1691). The residents of the place were obliged to do labor on the Chválkovice farm. One of the easements of the Halbhüfner and Chalupner was the felling of six fathoms of wood in the Bělkovicer forest, whereby the Halbhüfner was also responsible for transporting it to the episcopal residence. In addition, they were liable to pay tithes to the Dean's Office Velká Bystřice . The registers have been kept in Velká Bystřice since 1651. The oldest local seal dates from 1694 and showed a willow tree. At the end of the 18th century, the village was allowed to serve one and a half buckets of manorial brandy annually . In addition, the payment of an annual dance tax of five and a half guilders has been handed down from this period. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the Olomouc bishopric.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Bukovany / Bukowan 1850 a municipality in the district administration Olomouc. From 1921 the municipality belonged to the Okres Olomouc-venkov. In 1950 Bukovany came to Okres Olomouc-okolí and since its abolition in 1961 the place belongs to Okres Olomouc. In 1976 Bukovany was incorporated into Velká Bystřice. In 1990 Bukovany broke up again and formed its own community. Bukovany has had a coat of arms and a banner since 1998.

The place has retained its original shape as a Slavic round . All later extensions were made to the northeast, so that the eye of the village center is still clearly visible today.
