history

Náměšť na Hané was first mentioned in 1141 in an inventory of the Olomouc bishop Heinrich Zdik . A part of the village at that time was owned by the Olomouc cathedral chapter, the larger part belonged to the Moravian aristocracy, who called themselves von Namiescht . King John of Bohemia raised Namiescht to a town in 1319, which he granted a weekly market and later also the privilege of a fair. The castle, first mentioned in 1371, was the administrative center of the small manor. In the period from 1423 to 1482, there is also evidence of a castle, which was supposed to protect the episcopal possessions, but was later abandoned. From 1536 to 1594, Namiescht was owned by the Lords of Würben . During their reign, the old fort was converted into a small Renaissance castle, which was later called the Lower Castle . It was renewed after the destruction of the Thirty Years' War and redesigned in Baroque style at the beginning of the 18th century. In 1726, the Namiescht rule came to Count Aloys Thomas Raimund von Harrach . His successor, Count Ferdinand Bonaventura von Harrach , built the so-called Upper Castle on a hill , which is surrounded by a circular park to which linden trees lead from four directions. Subsequently, a textile factory and then a brewery was set up in the Lower Castle between 1765 and 1768. From 1780 to 1916 Namiescht was owned by the Count Kinsky , after which it belonged to the Ottahal family until the expropriation in 1945.

After the abolition of patrimonial Namiescht formed a community in the Olomouc district from 1850 . 1949 Biskupství, 1974 Loučany and 1980 Olbramice was incorporated. Since 1990 Loučany and Olbramice have again formed independent municipalities. Since January 23, 2007 Náměšť na Hané has again the status of Městys .
